  1. Make up your own terrorist group

The Burning Men: secret Catholics, largely acting in primarily Protestant areas, who committed wholesale acts of arson, especially directed at the property of protestant land owners and military buildings following a decree by Bonny Prince Charlie.
  2. Challenge: Continental British Empire

The division of France post 1815, between Britain, Belgium, Spain, Germany and Italy? Britain gets Britanny and Normandy, say. I can see Belgium becoming a de facto British client state in such a scenario.
  3. AH Challange: A Mad Scientist takes power

Let's have him contract syphylis then, with symptoms beginning a few years into his premiership- i.e. it gets hushed up before elections. It's not like an infirm PM hasn't been supported before (Churchill)
  4. The Beer Hall Putsch suceeds!

I'd point out that at one stage in the 1920s a right wing putsch did take Berlin. The Trade Unions brought it down with a general strike. I suspect the same might happen again.
  5. A British Wild West

There would still be plagues and the depredation of buffalo herds, but it's highly unlikely that Britain would engage in the same level of genocide. As to immigration, that's quite a tough question. I doubt a British not-US would attract the same level of immigration, so would there be the...
  6. DB:Hail Angloponia!

Yet again, those damn Zeeland independence parties will waste the votes of that land.
  7. AH Challange: A Mad Scientist takes power

Steve Jobs enters politics? Brunel enters the House of Lords, and (late in life) becomes PM?
  8. AH fasion clothing and hair.

    Curse the man!
  9. hippie like movement hits europe at the height of imperialism more succesful than OLT

I'd imagine that such a movement (in England at least) would have trouble taking off in the Victorian social mores. But some derivation of the romantics does seem the most likely option. I suspect I'll focus on Britain as 1) I live there 2) it' what most people think of as the centre of...
  10. Double Blind AH Challenge!

One might suggest an earlier use of petrol engines, as HTA craft require them rather than steam. As a plus side, more exploitation of mineral oil might lead to the survival of some large whale species.
  11. Is this an accurate description of alternate history?

The ending to the Dark Tower... *growls*. I read the series borrowed from a friend. I have a suspicion I may have phoned him when I finished to complain. :)
  12. Railway artillery

Generally not- they're harder to hide against air attack and less mobile (i.e. need track). On the other hand, they may be easier to keep supplied as they can only operate where there's a rail line. If you mean supergunnish grade weapons, then I'd point out that you can check Wikipedia and...
  13. Greatest of counterrevolutionaries

We're meant to have effective anti-revolutionaries here. Prince Rupert, on the other hand... Also, Charles died AFTER the war.
  14. All hail dot com

In Count Zero, we find out that the loa are the AI descendants of Neuromancer.
  15. DB: WI no Home Rule?

You have read what I types, right? I'm suggesting Ireland got Home Rule prior to 1910... and asking for suggestions as to different scenarios if the Conservatives had (as OTL) delayed it until WWI or later.
  16. DB: WI no Home Rule?

What would have happened if the Tories had stuck to their guns and supported the Ulstermen in the 1890s/1900s? I suspect Home Rule would still be inevitable, as the King could always meddle with the House of Lords, but would the Conservatives have avoided the smear of "betrayers of the...
  17. Guy Fawkes' Gunpowder Plot succeeds

A great deal of Irish culture was invented/resurrected to justify Nationalist arguments at a later period. In fact, heavier repression at this time, if ultimately unsuccessful, may result in a greater resurgence of Gaelic and so on.
  18. Kingdom of America

Clearly the US will attack Canada and Britain. And then look surprised when its left all alone, with only Micronesia to help it attack third world nations.
  19. What if Queen Victoria was a boy?

Remember the general diplomatic ineptitude of Napoleon III. I can easily see Bismark manipulating him into an alliance against a British-Austrian threat. Would he get the Hohenzollern Spanish line of sucession installed thusly, creating a Prussian/French/Spanish alliance facing the...
  20. Probably you don't know that....

Accuracy was in terms of square kilometers at the time. At night, it gets even worse. Also German navigation (and Allied, prior to radar guidence) was difficult enough that bombers occasionally had trouble hitting a city, let alone a small factory.
