Worst movies/TV shows that never existed

William Gibson's "Neuromancer" with Case played by Thomas Gibson, Molly played by Debby Gibson, and Armitage played by Mel Gibson.
Have Mel Gibson directing it and you could have all dialogue in something like the outer-Planetary creoles from the Expanse books [1] to add an unnecessary layer of pretentious complexity.

[1] Which works there as it has a purpose.

The Last Airbender (2010)
Directed and Written by M. Night Shyamalan
Mike and Bryan took one look at Shyamalan's script for the film and jettisoned the whole project. Among the travesties of this film that could have happened are an Earthbender prison in a quarry, revealing the Fire Lord early, and mispronouncing character's names.
Oh God! I remember when the script was leaked online a few years back. Sound like this would've been a pretty crappy movie.

I can't believe that there were going to be Earthbenders that were imprisoned in a quarry (something Earthbenders could easily escape from because of all the earth) instead of a metal ship.

Why was Aang going to be pronounced as Ung, Sokka as SOH-kuh and Iroh as Ear-row?

The Hunchback of Notre Dame (2024)

Following Disney's streak of mediocre live-action films, it was announced in January 2019 that a live-action remake of the 1996 classic "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" was in active development. Production was...troubled to say the least, the dark and mature themes of the original animated film made remaking it to fit today's standards an extremely difficult task. Alan Menken felt the same sentiment, as he quit production on the live-action remake after one argument too many on including the song "Hellfire". Eventually, the film wrapped up production by mid 2023 and was set for a 2024 release, the final product would be one of the most universally hated and low rated films of all time.

Quasimodo is adopted and raised reluctantly by Judge Claude Frollo after his Romani mother was killed at the hands of Frollo. 20 years later, Quasimodo joins the festival of Fools and is crowned the winner only to be turned on against by the crowd. The gypsy dancer Esmeralda comes to Quasimodo's rescue and catches the eye of Frollo and the Captain of the Guard Phoebus de Chateaupers. Frollo's obession with Esmeralda leads him to convict her of witchcraft, and the gypsy is locked up in the cathedral. When Phoebus first approaches Esmeralda, he is instantly turned down and beaten up. Later Esmeralda leaves on her own accord and is captured by Frollo's guards. Yet, she escapes once more and single-handedly finishes the fight, ending it by saving Quasimodo and throwing Frollo into into fiery pit below.

"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" released to theaters on August 11th 2024. The film blew up overnight on the internet and not in a good way, most if not all of the problems from "Mulan" (2020) reared their ugly heads here. Esmeralda's over the top feminism was criticised and panned, and the lack of faithfulness and "Hellfire" were also key factors which played into the film's critical thrashing. Needless to say, there are little to no fans of this live-action remake, which has quickly become one of Disney's biggest failures and mistakes.

Bubblegum Crisis: The Movie (2000). While the story and setting was accurate to the anime, having the cast consist entirely of country music stars for some bizzare reason (ie, Shania Twain as Priss, among other casting oddities) meant the film was completely lacking in actors who worked. Most people just recommend the novelization (which remains in print as of 2024).

Geez, and I though Pinocchio (2022) was bad.

How did Hunchback do at the box office? I know the critics and audiences hated it but I wonder how much money it would have made.

Animal Fight Club (2004)

This short lived show was one of Animal Planet's greatest shames. Animals would be put in a colosseum-like area (and an aquarium-like enclosure for aquatic animals) and fight to the death. The animals would usually be two animals that lived in the same areas of the world (with the lion vs tiger battle being the only exception). The show would last for a single 15 episode season (how it wasn't cancelled after one episode is beyond me) before it was cancelled after receiving a massive amount of backlash from critics, audiences and animal rights activists. While people say the show had an interesting concept and to be fare, would introduce people to the concept of animal battles, people would say that the show probably would've been better if the animal battles were done in CGI.

List of episodes. Winners listed in bold. Battles that had

  1. Lion vs tiger
  2. African bush elephant vs white rhinoceros
  3. Gorilla vs leopard
  4. Cougar vs wolf
  5. Chimpanzee vs baboon
  6. American alligator vs Burmese python (tie)
  7. White rhinoceros vs hippopotamus (tie)
  8. Polar bear vs walrus
  9. Tiger vs brown bear
  10. Spotted hyena pack vs African wild dog pack
  11. Killer whale vs great white shark
  12. Jaguar vs yacare caiman
  13. Moose vs brown bear
  14. Coyote vs wolverine
  15. American bison vs Texas longhorn (tie)

Probably around the same as Mulan 2020
To be fare though, Mulan 2020 bombed at the box office due to its limited release because of Covid. Yes, I know Mulan 2020 still sucked but still.

What the hell................Whichever executive even greenlit this show to begin with should probably be fired....

I’m more curious as to how a walrus managed to kill a polar bear than anything else.

A walrus can weigh over twice the amount of a polar bear. Not to mention its giant tusks can do some serious damage. While polar bears can kill walruses, walruses can also kill polar bears.
To say this is messed up would be an understatement
Indeed it is pretty messed up.

Animals fighting in the wild: That's fine, animals fight and kill each other all the time in the wild.

Animals fights in a Roman colosseum-like stadium: Very cruel indeed.

Mein Kampf (1935)
This racist adaptation of Hitler's manifesto was fully financed by the Third Reich, and depicts fascism and tyranny as a good thing. Critics on both sides of the Atlantic despised this film, with the racism, terrible dialogue and blatant propaganda being seen as this film's downfall. After the end of the Second World War, this film became banned in most of civilization for good reason.

Test your faith!

Religious teachers go head to head in a series of increasingly difficult and unpleasant challenges where prayer and strong faith are all they have to keep them going.

Despite several 'martyrdoms', this offensive series lasted 12 seasons until leaked emails revealed the production team's anti-Hindu prejudices, closing off the lucrative Indian market. Rumours abound that at least one Indian broadcaster is negotiating. with the US rights holders to do its own Indian version..

13 Reasons Why (2012)
Making a movie version of the book 13 Reasons Why starring Selena Gomez as Hannah Baker seemed like a good idea at the time. So, what went wrong? Well, how about turning it into a musical, for starters. If it had been a movie similar to Chicago in 2002 (based on the Broadway musical), where the musical numbers were presented as cutaways in the mind of the main character (or characters), this might not have been a problem. However, they decided to make it a musical similar to the movie Grease, where the musical numbers were intertwined with the action--which caused serious mood swings in the movie (to the point that one review called 13 Reasons Why a bipolar movie). And there was another small problem: while Selena Gomez could sing, some of the other cast members...couldn't. At all. And it showed, too. And, to top it all off, the movie nearly had Hannah Baker living--Gomez and book author Jay Asher had to fight with the producer to let Hannah die. [1] To the surprise of no one, the film flopped and became one of the worst movies of 2012, being nominated for several Razzie awards (including Worst Picture, Worst Director (for Joss Whedon), Worst Actress (for Gomez), and Worst Actor (for Blake Jenner, who played Clay [2]), and losing all of them (all but Worst Actor to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2). Selena Gomez and Jenner both disowned this movie after it came out, with Gomez saying this was the worst movie she'd ever starred in. [3]

[1] Ironically, in Asher's original draft of 13 Reasons Why, Hannah Baker survived her suicide attempt (that's OTL, believe it or not).
[2] After Melissa Benoist's claims of abuse in her relationship/marriage with Jenner, him playing Clay became Harsher in Hindsight in TTL.
[3] This film (and The Getaway) derailed Selena Gomez's career, and she would play supporting roles in movies (including the Kissing Booth series, which starred her Ramona and Beezus co-star Joey King) until Murders In the Building revived it.
