  1. A Blank Map Thread

Seems like it says "Map of the Slavic World" in Serbian.
  2. Map Thread VII

    Guarani speakers.
  3. Map Thread VII

How, exactly? Most of those make some historical sense. Colombia had clams on Ecuador and the Oriente, Peru had claims on the Oriente and can certainly unite with Bolivia, while Chile was part of the Incas. Brazil had, in OTL, some independence movements in the north. Venezuela's southern border...
  4. Map Thread VII

I see our Turkish forumite has suddenly gained political office. Anyways, well done, though I would agree that it requires some polishing.
  5. Map Thread VII

Good job, sir! Maybe we should add it to the growing AH.Com atlas? Though you may wish to give citations next time.
  6. Map Thread VII

Because other textbooks are worse, most likely.
  7. Benito Mussolini: Enemy of the Reich?

Libyan oil was a non-factor until after Libya got its independence. The war in Europe would have went differently had Libya's oil been known of at the time (and is a relatively common POD used to engineer German victory... somehow).
  8. Vector (Blank) Map Thread

Ah, so the same thing as I do. Also, your EdT World map is showing up as a "red x."
  9. Vector (Blank) Map Thread

Question: Do you trace them by hand, or do you have some magic tool to convert them to vectors? I'm guessing the former.
  10. No US entry into WW I, does the Entente still win?

Well, in OTL the German High Command apparently rushed with the Spring Offensive because they feared that delaying further would lead to more American bodies at the frontlines. Without the Americans, the German Army can prepare more for the 1918 offensive (train more troops in stormtrooper...
  11. Axis of Andes

Excellent! Your style and format is refreshing as always, and I say continue sketching historical South America and the pre-war developments. The war itself will be enriched by all the background you provide.
  12. Map Thread VII

Good maps and TL, Thande. I would say very original, when taken as a whole, compared to many 20th century timelines which follow the same general stream of history as OTL. The Ottoman-Russian border is indeed OTL, though I would edit it a little bit. The OTL border was formed when borders were...
  13. PoD for a USSR wins the Cold War TL

I agree. The earlier the POD the better (though that "US intervention in China and Hungary" by Admiral Matt is brilliant AND post-1945 - I wrote up most of this response yesterday night, before he posted), since it allows butterflies to erode some long-term disadvantages of the USSR (and...
  14. Map of the Fortnight: Main thread

    I second this.
  15. Anglo-American War of 1871

Stepping away from all the ironclads and breechloaders for a minute, American politics might be important. Grant is President (does he personally lead troops into battle?), but has been hit with several scandals. The Republicans have a majority in Congress, but the Democrats *just* had a surge...
  16. Map Thread VII

You have received plenty of applause for this map. Let me add another pair of hands. I ask if you were influenced by OTL warlord-era maps? The "bubble style" of denoting warlord groups seems to be similar. In any case, looks quite like a historical map.
  17. Map Thread VII

Maybe he means that the USSR stayed united and with the CPSU at the helm while China "fell apart?" We need an image of Turtledove smoking a cigar made out of dollar bills.
  18. Axis of Andes

Very good! I enjoyed the background history of Ecuador. Indeed, the focus on one small country in the background of the world's action is enthralling. The reader knows that this is not the same thing as always, that he is reading something new. Your writing style, which I would desribe as a...
  19. Map of the Fortnight: Main thread

I hope to get the map in by today. When is the contest over? 7 PM EST / 12 AM Greenwich? EDIT: Well, there goes that plan. I suppose not.
  20. A Southern West

Then it is up in the air, as I said. A Southern-dominated US may have both more and less incentives to expand. I lean towards the fact that the US may be even more expansionist, and that the "Papist Problem" would be dealt with by making them cheap labor slightly above slaves. However, such...
