  1. Japan declares war on germany july 1941

It would make sense to reverse this after Pearl Harbor, if Germany declared war on Japan it would cause problems in the USA politically
  2. HW Bush second term foreign policy?

Would NAFTA even pass under Bush? Or is it one of those ideas that Democrats oppose until they are in office?
  3. Barbarossa without the Great Purge

The new officers were way out of their depth. One example from When Titans Clashed was that they did not choose the best terrain to set up defensive positions. Many officers were too green to know how so just looked in field manuals. Lack of such basic knowledge is only the beginning of the...
  4. Barbarossa without the Great Purge

    Army Group Center
  5. Plausible alternate borders in Europe post-WW2?

Stalin sees how many people in Galicia joined the SS decides to make it Poland’s problem and gives it back. https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2022/05/11/covert-operation-ukrainian-independence-haunts-cia-00029968 then if we do this it happens in Poland which will have repercussions for US...
  6. Barbarossa without the Great Purge

Even as badly hurt as they were by the purges the Red Army could have destroyed AGC if Stalin had not gotten cocky and ordered a broader counteroffensive. Without the purges AGC is destroyed in 1941. The war ends at least a year early with far less damage to the USSR.
  7. American Middle Class doesn’t build up between 1945 & 1970, expectations aren’t build up . . .

The propaganda only worked because life improved for the western working classes. If they had not improved then you would have seen much more communism. That was the reason for the Marshall plan. Basically the western elites bribed the people to not go communist with a bigger piece of the...
  8. American Middle Class doesn’t build up between 1945 & 1970, expectations aren’t build up . . .

I am talking joining the eastern bloc. IIRC Greece came close to doing so anyway. If everybody in the west stays poor then why not try something new?
  9. American Middle Class doesn’t build up between 1945 & 1970, expectations aren’t build up . . .

The poorer the US & European working class are the greater the chance of going communist. The problem is not that the middle class had too much but that elites have gotten too greedy the last few decades
  10. Consequences for the Pacific War if Germany does not invade the USSR

There was a British plan to bomb some Soviet oil fields if that had been done there might have been an alliance until Britain capitulated.
  11. Consequences for the Pacific War if Germany does not invade the USSR

Stalin has his stroke in 1936 and there are no purges. Somehow Hitler realizes just how strong the red army really is and how many tanks they have and is scared off. I read somewhere Hitler said he might not have invaded if he knew how many tanks the USSR had so have him find out.
  12. Would a fascist US join Nazi Germany?

Wouldn’t a fascist USA conquer Canada or Mexico or both?
  13. Who hurt their military more, Hitler or Stalin?

While that is true I cannot help but wonder how many extra millions of Soviets died just after 1941 because Stalin meddled and AGC was not destroyed at the first opportunity.
  14. How "should" WWII in 1940 have gone?

David Glantz said in his book When Titans Clashed that the Nazis attacked the USSR at the time of maximum advantage due to the purges. It seems the Red Army only started to get back to where they were pre purge after Stalingrad.
  15. How "should" WWII in 1940 have gone?

The best trained Soviet troops took the brunt of the initial attack and most were lost. After that there was little time to properly train the new troops they mobilized. That explains a lot of those kill ratios and Stalin being a micro manager hurt a lot as well
  16. Who hurt their military more, Hitler or Stalin?

I have started reading https://books.google.com/books/about/When_Titans_Clashed.html?hl=ja&id=WS2ArgEACAAJ and the author believes that the USSR could have destroyed Army Group Center in winter 1941-1942. However he asserted that Stalin got overconfident nd tried to start a larger offensive...
  17. AHD: Georgian SSR secedes from the Soviet Union in the 1940s under Stalin

With Stalin and Beria the had the top two men in the USSR. In those circumstances Georgians who wanted to secede would be bound for a mental asylum.
  18. Death toll in Eastern Europe during WW2 with no lend lease

The wiki article reads like incompetence. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_famine_of_1930%E2%80%931933 For example I remembered that the Soviets exported grain to buy industry. However I didn’t know or forgot about the mass slaughter of cows and sheep. They should have cut grain exports in...
  19. Further Exploring the Draka Series

Right like I said no internal consistency, the plot point is contradicted by the timeline in the appendix.
  20. Further Exploring the Draka Series

IIRC they started WWII with 14 million troops so the Draka didn’t need any help at all. Just a total lack of internal consistency in book 1.
