  1. WI: Napoleon united Italy and Germany as powerful client states so that he didn't have to keep fighting Prussia and Austria

The problem with strong client states is that if they're strong enough not to need their overlord, they're going to look after their interests first and their overlords second. Weak client states are more reliable and dependable than ones that are strong.
  2. Save an extinct ethnic group

True, and they're the closest thing we have which is pretty interesting in and of itself since the alans are generally considered a part of the sarmatians which in turn were a part of the scythian ethnic group. But the larger part of ancient scythia was lost, which would have been really...
  3. Save an extinct ethnic group

I don't know, Scythian culture got mixed in with the germanic invasions of western europe and then became absorbed in the proto-slavic ethnic groups so its all a kind of mix. What would really interest me is a more distinct scythian culture that centralized and would have successfully fended off...
  4. Save an extinct ethnic group

This was hard to choose. On one hand Carthage/Phoenicia is fascinating to me and the possibilities of a Carthaginian/Punic led Mediterranean are fascinating, but I went with Scythians because well, they're more of a mystery and their culture seems very interesting from what we know.
  5. Save one extinct Royal House/Imperial Dynasty

Of it were listed I would have picked the Merovingian Dynasty because all the legends and such they inspired.
  6. World War III breaks out in 1948-Stalin expels the Western Allies from mainland Europe, and then offers peace negotiations from a position of strength

From everything posted here I have little doubt that the Soviets could if they had wanted to Is swept through Western Europe. I doubt it would have been easy but it could have been done. Out of curiosity does anyone have information on the state of the French military at this time? Also if the...
  7. How could Soccer could have become more popular in the USA?

Well the name soccer come from England because it was easier to say than association football... Maybe is sports clubs had become more of a thing in the USA you might see more popularity of the sport since it is pretty inexpensive to set up and play. Alo some of those clubs could form the...
  8. How would the Western Allies have fought the Axis without the USSR?

Yes. Especially since the luftwaffe won't be worn down by the eastern front.
  9. Churchill Dies Suddenly after the UK is Already Committed to Fighting On.

Without Churchill in charge, will the British divert troops to Greece? If not, can they roll up North Africa sooner? Also without Churchill advocating an attack on the 'soft underbelly' is there an Italian front in 43 or do the wallies throw all their weight at France?
  10. WI: Germany Directly Attacks France (Instead of Invading Through Belgium) in 1914

Question, and forgive my ignorance on this, but is there enough infrastructure to support a German advance directly on France even if they breakthrough? Its not a huge frontier, is there enough road and rail in place?
  11. The Rainbow. A World War One on Canada's West Coast Timeline

Time for the Germans to turn tail and haul ass. Staying and fighting Rainbow isn't their mission, and they need to be far more damage averse than their opponent. To misquote Clara from Dr Who: "Run you clever boys."
  12. AHCWI: Entente Victory Within 2 Years of WW1

I think part of that is the fact that in Europe there was a greater density of railroads, while people forget just how big Russia is and how hard it was (and expensive) to connect some of those far flung areas via railroad.
  13. AHQ: Did the Western Allies make any important mistakes in Strategy in 1942 and later?

I'd say one of the strategic mistakes for the USA was the issues with the ordinance bureau. Possibly could have skipped the torpedo problems and not being prepared for tank warfare (m3 tank) so close to the entry of the US even if the military was small.
  14. What Would A 1970s Syd Barrett-led Pink Floyd Look Like?

Pink Floyd go the way of Procul Harum with one hit that everyone knows and a bunch of lesser known songs that are still pretty fantastic but get little radio play and are largely unknown after their late 60s/70s heyday.
