    Disneyland's 55th Anniversary Special
Aired on the night of July 17, 2010 as a special edition of the anthology series on Fox

Hosted by the stars of Glee
    Jane Lynch
    Mike O'Malley
    Chris Colfer
    Dianna Agron
    Kevin McHale
    Amber Riley

    What's new at Disneyland Park?
    Tomorrowland

    - In response to overwhelmingly negative criticism, Horizon Spaceport's name is changed back to Tomorrowland, repurposed with a space-fantasy theme while keeping the Tomorrowland 2055 design that didn't get built IOTL.
    - With Stitch's Great Escape taking over at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, the Alien Encounter (based on The X-Files ITTL) finds a new home in Anaheim.
    - Star Tours is undergoing refurbishment into Star Tours: The Adventures Continue with new planets, etc.
    - Autopia will revert to its shorter track layout from 1955 to make way for the expansion of Fantasyland.

    World-Holiday-Land.jpg

    New Orleans Square
The lameduck World Holiday Land (above) is being rethemed as an expansion of New Orleans Square. Disney has been tight-lipped on what rides could be part of the expansion. Jim Hill Media speculates that it could be a Bayou-themed dark ride based on The Princess and the Frog. Likely a condensed version of OTL's Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Others say that WED Imagineering has asked Blanche Boudreaux to be a consultant. Others point to Del St. Pierre writing new background music for the land. Users on Marvel fan messageboards have their fingers crossed for a Gambit-themed attraction.

    Disneyland's 55th Anniversary (7/17/2010) Part Two
  • What's New at Disneyland Park?
    Part 2

    Discovery Bay

A condensed version of the Submarine Voyage, based on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea [1], will open at Discovery Bay to make up for the original Submarine Voyage and Motorboat Cruise at Tomorrowland being phased out to make way for Fantasyland expansion.

[1] As part of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit returning to Disney, Walt Sr. co-produced 20,000 Leagues in 1954 with Walter Lantz, Richard Fleischer and George Pal.

At the moment, the only real E-Ticket at Discovery Bay is the Island at the Top of the World. The 1974 film of the same title inspired the blimp used in the logo for Hyperion Pictures' logo.

Discovery Bay is on the Northwest corner of Disneyland Park where Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge sits nowadays IOTL.

    Mickey's Toontown
Mickey's Runaway Railway should come much sooner ITTL if Paul Rudish's take on the Fab Five proves successful in the near future.

    Fantasyland
Early talk of retheming the Matterhorn with a Snow Queen overlay quieted down after a few years because of a potential mismatch with the storyline of the existing ride. Instead, we'll see a whole new ride which is basically the Frozen Ever After ride that replaced the Maelstrom at Epcot IOTL.

Ariel's Undersea Adventure should fit somewhere here.

    Adventureland and Frontierland
No changes to either of these lands as of 2010 ITTL.

What's New at the Epic Kingdom?
Across the esplanade from Disneyland Park is the Epic Kingdom, which opened in 2001 on the site of the OTL California Adventure.
These new lands and attractions were added last year.
    AJAX Crimenet
    (Carmen Sandiego franchise)
Pixel Pier (Atari, TRON and Kingdom Hearts franchises)
Little Tokyo (Urusei Yatsura, Naruto, Inuyasha, Tenchi Muyo, Ranma 1/2)
Pico Boulevard (Die Hard or Speed stunt show)

Notes: The OTL Avenger Campus is known ITTL as Excelsior Square with attractions based on Marvel, TMNT and Gargoyles.

In the coming years, if Big Hero Six proves successful, San Fransokyo Square could help bridge Pixel Pier and Little Tokyo.

And in case you're wondering....Yes, in Orlando, there is an Urusei Yatsura ride at the Japanese pavilion at Epcot. Since 1988.

    2010 San Diego Comic Con
    Held on July 22 thru 25, 2010

With billions of dollars at stake, what was once a simple gathering for pop culture nerds to meet their idols has become a lucrative testing ground for Hollywood to gauge the public's interest in the next box office franchise.

    Thursday
    Hall H

Universal Pictures officially confirmed the long-rumored casting of Andrew Garfield as Archie Andrews as part of Marc Webb's live action Archie film slated for a 2012 release. Archie, along with Ridley Scott's Oppenheimer and Defenders of the Earth (in association with Paramount) will each be the centerpieces of the studio's year-long centennial celebration in 2012.

Later on at Hall H, Universal gave attendees a preview of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, which hits theatres worldwide in just three weeks.

Finally, Universal capped off its Hall H slate as the entire cast of Defenders of the Earth came together for the first time. When the panel for the upcoming 2012 film ended, John Cena (Popeye), Chris Evans (Flash Gordon), Benedict Cumberbatch (Mandrake), Ben Affleck (The Phantom), Michael Clake Duncan (Lothar), Ryan Potter (Kshn), Elizabeth Olsen (Jedda Walker) and Thora Birch (Dale Arden) stood together on the stage to a standing ovation.

Attendees at Ballroom 20 saw a preview of Gramercy's upcoming sci-fi disaster film Skyline. IOTL, despite the ambitious marketing campaign like you see above, the film was overwhelmingly panned by critics.

    Exhibit Hall
On the exhibit hall floor the entire weekend, AMC offered an interactive preview of its new exclusive series The Walking Dead.

Paramount Animation president Sam Register moderated a panel offering attendees a preview of the upcoming straight-to-home media crossover Tom and Jerry: Top Gun: Original Movie, which will hit store shelves on August 27. And yes, Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone" blares while Jerry commandeers a fighter jet with Tom hanging on to a wing. And yes, Red Hot Riding Hood will play Charlie Blackwood.

When asked about Tom and Jerry: Ghostbusters: Original Movie being delayed to 2011, Register confirmed that the sudden decline of Earl Kress's health played a role. Another factor was the legal issues regarding likeness rights for the original actors prompting Paramount to recycle the character designs from the 80's SatAm series (known IOTL as The Real Ghostbusters) at the last minute. A third factor, Register said, was not wanting to cannibalize Answer the Call, which comes out the weekend before Halloween.

ITTL, Han was played by Kurt Russell.
George Takei's Rakatan ronin Boba fills Lando's shoes.
The promo avoids spoiling the reveal of Sigourney Weaver's Nellith for the "Whole new generation."

The 1995 release of the first Trilogy was not the "Last Time" ITTL. Disney sent the negatives of the theatrical versions to the Library of Congress. In the mid-90's, however, Disney made separate prints when George Lucas and Amblin Entertainment requested access to said negatives to both restoration and enhancements for the 1997 Special Editions. The '95 prints of the first trilogy were released to generate buzz for Shadows of the Empire, the Special Editions and the prequel trilogy. Since then, Disney and Amblin have made both the theatrical and Special Edition releases available through Limited Run. This year, the theatrical versions are what Disney has prioritized for newer reissuses as part of Fox's Diamond Celebration collection.
