The Elections of 1864 in American Emperors, A Tale of Alternate Presidents.
Jake Edelweiss Senior/William A. Lincoln (Democratic)
Richard Edward Wilkinson/Henry Sylvester (Republican)
Edward Frederick Adams*/Booker DeWitt (Moderate)
Henry James Brittain**/David Crockett (Liberal)
* The son of Michael Zachary Adams, former President, who died in 1857.
** Descandant of James Brittain, the man history tried to erase.
This election, the only one without the South, was obviously an Edelweiss victory, but Wilkinson, Adams and Brittain managed to gain a bit.
Richard Edward Wilkinson, the leader of the Republican Party, an New Englander regional party, had big views for the future. He wanted a Republican President. He knew that he wouldnt be that, but Sylvester, his chosen Vice President, had promise. In the election, the Reps gained two states.
Edward Frederick Adams, the son of the famous Michael Zachary Adams, saw the South go Whig and the Moderates shrink. But in this election, Kansas, Missouri and Vandaly voted for the Moderates on the basis of "They never failed us, while the Southern Whigs did." Thus began the second Moderate ascension, much more slowly then the first, and with an Adams at the helm.
James C. Brooke, the last Western Whig leader, decided, after talks, to disassociate themselves with the treasonous Southern Whigs. They eventually chose the name "Liberal" for their party. Due to Brooke's assocation with the former Western Whigs, Henry James Brittain was chosen as the first Liberal leader. The admission of the State of Nevada meant that the Liberals gained a state.
Due to the Four-Party system, this election ended in an throwing to the Congress, which wisely chose the current President, Jake Edelweiss Senior, to continue into another term.
