    The Dead Skunk

Well I think the Quid radicals will strike north in 'revenge' with assassinations and arson. But if that's not enough I suppose we could see conflict break out in the Free states of sorts between radical abolotionists that want to seize the moment to purge slavery, those who want to stay out...

    The Dead Skunk

Ah, great to read this again. For part 1 we see the paranoia growing in the South. Their society seem primed to get even more messed up by this constant anxiety on a grand scale. Heh, the bit on the snow shoveling reminds me of Oglethorpe of Georgia. It seems a major reason he opposed the...

    The Dead Skunk

With Florida I worry that they seem to be just staying the course Post War save some cultural/protonational movement. The Republic for all the trouble it faces growing does seem committed to reforming to face the future. For Florida their success here ay leave them for the nxt war prapred to...

    King Theodore's Corsica

I did a little bit of research and here's what I found. The island has only one inlet and one beach, so not the most accessible. It was inhabited off and on by monasteries for over a thousand years, which seem to have been shut down repeatedly due to piracy, fear of piracy, and church...

    King Theodore's Corsica

You know, I have this notion stuck in my head of a Genoese family emigrating from Bonifacio unwilling to live under King Theo, and ending up immigrating to the USA in a few years. With a son of the family becoming a prominent American figure influenced by the Siege in his childhood. Well in...

    King Theodore's Corsica

And of course another question now, is what happens to Genoa in the wake of this peace? What fate for our semi-rogue admiral for instance?

    King Theodore's Corsica

Well that was unexpected. I agree that settling Gorgona will be a priority. Though could that be a homeland for the Greeks of Corsica at last? I don't really see any reconciliation with Genoa anytime soon. Even if their border dispute is settled bad feelings all around abound. Tuscany...

    King Theodore's Corsica

I think this intransigence will hurt Genoa more than Corsica with the great powers. Corsica doesn't have very good reputation so its sort of expected I think for them to be 'boorish'. But Genoa is forgetting who butters its bread, they survive because the great powers protect them for the...

    King Theodore's Corsica

Possible. If King Theo can present the war as a personal victory he could use that to push reforms; but even in the best case it will be a question of how much. Even the best victory for Corsica here will be one they have to recover from I would say with the strain this has put on them.

    King Theodore's Corsica

Quite so. And such unrest in the streets of Genoa would be another step toward victory for Corsica in this war. One could even hope it might lead to Genoa getting its act together with real reform happening.

    King Theodore's Corsica

Understood thanks for clarifying. You are correct that I more saw them as elites in terms of expense than ability; but I am very pleased with the info you gave on their status vs the Ligurian troops. Also bad for the Genoese, as you said that the garrison now has some veterans to stiffen their...

    King Theodore's Corsica

This is I think the pebble tipping the scales here. The Great Powers likely hoped Genoa would either slap Corsica enough to get her 'back in place' or at least get a status quo antebellum peace. Its not pleasing to anyone in power for Corsica to start making trouble on its own. But Genoa to...

    King Theodore's Corsica

Well I'm not sure how exactly the rating system works; but I dare say that only makes Genoa's predicament even more disgustingly disgraceful too the great powers.

    King Theodore's Corsica

My guess is this war will end in a Pyrrhic victory for Corsica. Genoa will not be able to take Caparia or otherwise leverage Theo to give up Bonifaccio, and the great powers will not be interested in helping Genoa clean up its own mess in yet again being beaten by third rate power. But they...

    The Dead Skunk

Looks like the Reform Party even as it rises in power is going to have a struggle on its hands on what exactly their agenda is. Though I'm guessing Crockett won't last much longer, as its said that few of his speeches are recorded in posterity. As I thought, the Quids are collapsing. Their...
