XCom2: After the End

So, having beat Xcom2, and taught those treacherous aliens that they should never try to find a cure for their dying race on Earth, I can't help but wonder about the aftermath.

Humanity's managed to overthrown the alien armada that conquered the planet, but the aliens' rule (if you ignore the millions dead) was pretty nice, with a standard of living exceeding modern first world standards for everyone, powered by cheap fusion, advanced reproduction techniques, and vat-farming.

The conspiracy theories were, of course, right. The old regime, which collaborated with the aliens, is pretty discredited; but the aliens' attempt to suppress traditional human cultures seems to have been very successful. (In twenty years. Don't ask how). One imagines that XCom was made up of a lot of die hard traditionalists. Who are now also mankind's liberators. Err.

The big question is, when will we detect the anomaly in the deep the Ethereals were warning us about that could hold a new terror?
