I would imagine Dalassenos would want to avoid invading Aleppo, a Byzantine tributary, since he had been based out of Antioch and would know it’s a bad move.

Yeah I can imagine he'd probably push for an invasion of Sicily while maintaining the Balance of Power in the East. Aleppo was a great buffer state.

Possibly. While I imagine Constantine IX would prevent Romanos III from hampering the army, I don’t know if he would prevent Romanos III from passing the tax burden from the aristocracy onto the commoners. Wikipedia says Romanos doing this caused a sort of serf like state to begin appearing on the common folk.
