WI: Stilicho escaped from his execution?

After Olympius' coup against Stilicho and his supporters, Stilicho lost the control of the Western Roman Empire, being executed on the morning of 22 August 408 after leaving his sanctuary at Ravenna, following the letters signed by Emperor Honorius. It is said that his men wanted to defend him from the execution, but Stilicho ever loyal to the Empire, asked not to. But what if Stilicho didn't accepted the letter of execution and managed to escape? How would he react against the coup without supporters, and with Alaric coming to Italy to help him in stopping Constantine III's usurpation in Gaul? Would he turn against the dynasty that he always protected or would try to regain control of Honorius?
