Why would they? Ferdinand VI of Spain is the older half brother of Charles V of Sicily and since Ferdinand was childless Charles was his heir. I realize the younger Farnese children of Philip V didn't always get along with his older sons but still why turn on your ally, especially when your ally is your brother and heir?
