The constant trial coverage is also blamed for hurting soap operas due to preemptions. While the genre's probably going to decline at some point no matter what this could slow it down.

Bruce becoming Caitlyn might not be as big a story, since no reality show means Bruce was out of the public eye for 25-30 years by the time of the transition. Being Caitlyn Jenner's daughter or stepdaughter isn't much of a hook. Kim might score some publicity from dating athletes or catch on as a Real Housewife somewhere.
