WI... No Nazis, but Mussolinist Germany?

Remember me? The guy from the mid-XIXth century Anglo-Brazilian War thread? :D

So, here's another What If for you guys...

1. No Hitler.
2. National-Socialism doesn't develops.
3. Mussolini rises to power in Italy.
4. German Fascist Party gains power.

So....That's it. How would History develop if, instead of the Nazis, we have a not-so-anti-semitic regime in Germany, based on Italian Corporatist Fascism?

Quite a bit better for everyone as Mussolini wasn't the kind of bloodthirsty butcher Hitler was. I think you will still wind up with a war but it won't be as nasty as OTL.

Let's see...no Holocaust, probably no Jewish nuclear scientists emigrating and no Einstein warning the US about the dangers of a nuclear-armed Germany. There would be war with Poland over the Corridor and w/ Czechoslovakia over Sudetenland (if necessary), but a full-blown invasion of Russia in pursuit of Lebensraum isn't likely.

However, in the event a Fascistic Germany invades the USSR, there's a good chance they'd win. No racial policies to alienate the Slavic peoples in the occupied territories.

Without Hitler's lunacy, you might very well see a German victory on the European continent.

Thing is, would Fascist Germany and Fascist Italy get along? There are a lot of Germans in South Tyrol, after all.

Yes, I was also thinking on a not-so-bloddy WW2... However, with the anti-semitic aspects being driven out, what other nations would join this Mussolinist Axis? Franco and Salazar are pretty obvious, but what about Perón and Vargas, in Argentina and Brazil? :)

I do not know whether even a more conservative, faschist Germany would have avoided a war with the USSR. Because of Germanies sucessfull campaign in the East during WW1 the idea of a Germany dominated Russia was quite popular in those circles. (There was a popular book about that idea called "Welteninsel" I forgot the author.
What could have happened is that such a Germany would have caused less concern in the West, while the function as a anti-communist bullwark would have still been visible.
There is even a chance for a Polish-German alliance against Russia, since the Pidulski Gouvernment has too been described as faschist before the war.
In a situation where Poland either faces a situation like Tschecheslowakia in 1938 in OTL or joining in a anti-communist crusade they might join where they cannot resist. It makes as least as much sence as the Hitler-Stalin Pact.

Agreed, and that would spell trouble for the Soviet government since a Mussolini type government is much preferable to a Stalinist one.

The most likely German candidate is Hugenburg (if I've spelt him right), though one can never rule out freaky side effects of no Nazis ever such as Ludendorff, or Tirpitz, or even Goering on his own as a front for a fascist monarchist party

No anti-semitism won't affect Einstein per se coz he adopted Swiss citizenship but it would affect his political machinations, and it would directly affect Fermi who fled Italy because he was scared for his family

Heisenberg plus Fermi may be enough for nuclear hegemony, it all depends really on things we can't begin to be sure about
