WI: Justo Rufino Barrios reunites the Federal Republic of Central America

For the unaware, Barrios was the President/Dictator of Guatemala. He's honestly an interesting guy, using his dictatorial powers to pass liberal reforms. He separated church and state, and really cracked down on religious influence in the country, going so far as to make civil marriages the only recognized ones. He promoted education and built the first telegraph lines and railroads, and helped to create the first constitution of Guatemala.

Barrios died during the Battle of Chalchuapa, a battle fought during the first month of Barrios' War of Reunification, where he invaded El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua with the help of Hounduras to unite Central America once more. Mexico was also briefly involved, but the US Ambassador to Guatemala succeed in getting them to withdraw. The Battle of Chalchuapa was a Salvadoran victory despite being outnumbered nearly 3:1 due to the loss of morale caused by Barrios' death.

So what if Barrios didn't die at Cahluchuapa, and his army of around 15,000 continued to invade his neighbors, and he succeeded in reuniting the FRCA. Could Barrios continue his reforms and make the FRCA a fully modernized, industrial nation? How long would this Republic last? Would the nation pull a Macedon and collapse the second Barrios dies?
