In OTL Israel sent F-15 and F-16s to the Osirak nuclear site in Iraq on June 7th, 1981. There they bombed the site to smithereens claiming it was being used to research and potentially manufacture nuclear weapons.
What if, either due to faulty intel from the CIA or Mossad or fearing anti-aircraft capabilities of Syria, Jordon or Iraq that Israel fearing that it was in 'mortal danger' (as it publically stated at the time) used it's rumoured tactical nuclear weapon to destroy Osirak.
What would be the collateral damage to the site? To Bagdad?
What would be the impact to foreign relations? To Israel?
Would a war result or would the rest of the world be too terrified of Israel's response?
Before anyone declares ASB I read a book (sorry don't remember title - but if you're interested PM me and I'll dig it out) a fair few years ago that this option was apparently considered by Israel if it ever actually believed there was a direct nuclear threat.
