In the Battle of the Bulge, the 101st Airborne Division and part of the 10th Armored Division was held under siege by the by the Germans. General Eisenhower called out to his commanders in the field and asked who can push in through the German line and get to Bastogne and rescue the 101st and the 10th. Patton volunteered that he could get his units there in 48 hours. The 101st was considered lucky because in a short time later, Bastogne was hit hard from all sides and the 3rd Army, the 101st and the 10th endured the toughest fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. WI Germany caught wind of Patton's sudden move and pushed for reinforcements in the south, north of Martelang. Patton's 3rd Army would have met heavy resistance leaving Bastogne without reinforcements, what would happen?
