What if the Allies invaded Southern France in May 1944?

IOTL Southern France was invaded in August 1944 but it was originally planned to happen at the same time as the Normandy Invasion.
So what if the invasion happened before D-Day?

The three main problems that Allies would have is:
1) Logistics
2) Logistics, and most importantly:
3) Logistics

But (and it is a big but) if the Allies can solve the problem I can see three possible favorable outcomes.
1) The Allies catch the Germans by surprise and are able to capture Marseille and Toulan with minimal damage to the ports.
2) The Germans withdraw troops from Italy to reinforce their units in Southern France which allows the Allies to capture more of Italy faster.
3) The Germans send reinforcements from Calais or Normandy which allows the Allies to break out of Normandy earlier.

Sorry about my ignorance of this subject but this is the only way I am going to learn.

If I remember correctly, there is a shortage of landing craft in this timeframe so the two invasions could not be run at the same time. Also the Pacific war was starting to heat up so the need for more landing craft in the Pacific also was a issue contributing to this shortage.
