What if Kennedy and Connally were switched?

What if, on the morning of November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy and Governor John Connally of Texas had switched seats in the limo? Assuming the exact same gunshots, Connally would have died, and Kennedy would have suffered a serious, but not fatal injury.

How could this have changed the world? Would the Cold War soon turn hot? And would the GOP be hurt by not gaining Connally in 1973 as in OTL?

Ronald Reagan certainly benefitted from Connally's support in 1980. Without it, I don't know if he could have beaten GHW Bush in the Texas primary that year.

Any thoughts?

I don’t understand why they would change seats. That would leave the Governor sitting next to Mrs. Kennedy and JFK up front with the driver. If it did happen then he probably would be a more difficult shot from Oswald’s vantage point and maybe Connally gets hit as well however the only reason JFK will survive is if Oswald misses or something more substantive then a seat change happens. Like changing from an open topped car etc.

Otherwise this is your standard “JFK survives” thread. Where he usually is impeached or resigns from office.
