Yes, Out of the Dark, which I picked up because it reminded me of the upcoming movie (don't look up - yes, that was the name the advance posters had as the internet name)....an alien invasion novel.
Wimpy herbivores watch an English king trounce the French with longbowmen ("my god, how can they do that?? and how horrifyingly bloody!")....and a thousand years later, decide to let their government's sole carnivorous species have the "honor" of making sure humans won't be a second blot on the galaxy.
yes, another "all carnivores are violent, all herbivores are peaceful" trope. it gets worse: mankind is saved by vampires. no, literally - Vlad Drakulya.
granted, I only skimmed through it. did anyone enjoy it more than I did?
