US - German Peace Treaty after collapse of Western Front but before US troops enter Europe in large numbers

This is really a question and one I have often thought about.

The US enters the war on schedule in April 1917 and starts building its army. France is on the verge of collapse and is staying afloat only with promises of American troops imminent arrival. The US insists that the submarine threat must be eliminated first or delays for some other reason, perhaps to chase raiders back into Mexico. French troops mutiny as Germany attacks. France collapses. France seeks an armistice and England soon follows to protect their troops in France.

Now the US is at war with a power it cannot strike. Germany is in much the same position. How do they solve the problem?

They would just sign a white peace, the US never seriously got involved and there is no reason to try to fight Germany.

There isn't much reason for Britain and France to seek an armistice independent from the USA, a blockade could still be enforced, to mitigate or even up terms.

If such a situation presented itself, USA would block any German attempt to establish colonies in the Pacific, Africa, either getting her old colonies back or taking new ones from the French.

America would also attempt to mitigate terms of any final peace in Europe just by savaging any attempts by the Germans to reestablish trade world wide.

The USA wouldn't attempt to establish a European front, just would try to keep the Germans out if the rest of the world.

So if Germany has battered Britain and France enough to call a halt on the western front, what happens in Salonika, in the middle east etc?

How, too, does Germany - creaking militarily and on the verge of starvation - manage to get enough of an upper hand to be confident the entente forces won't agree to discuss terms, invite the Americans in and immediately prepare for round 2?
