The Splitting of the Mississippi Territory

so lets say that the efforts of the Republic of West Florida was more successful and after capturing Fort San Carlos and securing Baton Rouge, the succeeded in their efforts to capture Mobile from the Spanish.

Using this Momentum the Rebel provide the United States a better bargaining position for its claims to West Florida and the being too beaten down the Spanish relent.

Instead of splitting the Mississpi Territory East and West forming Mississippi and Alabama the US Government Split the Territory North and South creating a State of West Florida with a Northern border marked at the 33 Parallel to match the northern border of Louisiana(cause lets be honest it would trigger someones OCD if the Northern border was kept at the traditional 32.28' border of the territory)

So if the Southern half of the territory were to become West Florida, would the Northern portion be named Mississippi or would it be given a different name?

Florida's western border is probably the Apalachicola River. The territories in OTL MS and AL are split E-W instead of N-S.

It would look better on maps, they're probably more culturally similar east to west rather than north to south. Mississippi might have been union loyal.
