The King’s plans

When Margaret became pregnant, she held her confinement in Paris, where she gave birth to her son William with Henry the Young King on August 10, 1177, the birth would overjoy both the King of France and the King of England as the problem of the Vexin has been solved, Margaret would give birth to further offsprings, Eleanor of England(1179), Margaret of England(1182) and Geoffrey of England(1186).

Eleanor of Aquitaine would propose a marriage between her youngest daughter, Joanna to Philippe Auguste because Eleanor of Aquitaine is angry about the match between Alice and Richard as Alice has been revealed to be the mistress of Henry II of England to Eleanor of Aquitaine and Eleanor of Aquitaine was determined to break up the engagement between Alice and Richard, her son and found that the best solution is to have Berengaria of Navarre and her son, Richard marry as he is the heir to the Duchy of Aquitaine and instead have her daughter, Joanna marry Philippe Auguste instead of the Engagement between Alys of France and Richard.

Alys of France and Henry II had some affair which was exposed to Eleanor but her father would not believe it because he believes that Eleanor is the one who was making that up and she have lost her credibility on him and the marriage between Margaret and Henry the Young King was enough and she would be forced to go back to France by Eleanor of Aquitaine with a heavy heart but she would be able to see her sister, this affair was considered to be a rumor but proofs would surfaced by modern historians and archeologists, Agnes who is about to be married to the Byzantine Emperor or heir and Alys is now being offered to the Eastern Roman Emperor who was affianced to her younger sister and the nineteen year old Alys would accept such marriage in order to protect her own dignity.

A fully disgraced Alys would NEVER be able to make a good match, specially not one so important to a foreign ruler... Alys will most likely end in convent or can be married to a French noble (but not one of the hightest rank) if her father will give her a suitable dowry (likely pretty high and including some lands) so convent is a much easier solution

Her father won't believe it in this TL so she keeps her dignity.

Alys took ship in Montpellier, bound for Constantinople, at Easter 1179. At Genoa the flotilla increased from 5 to 19 ships, captained by Baldovino Guercio.

On arrival in Constantinople in late summer 1179 Alys was met by seventy high-ranking ladies and lavish festivities were organized for her. She was greeted with an oration from Eustathios, former Master of the Rhetors and archbishop of Thessalonica. She was perhaps now presented with an elaborate volume of welcoming verses by an anonymous author, sometimes called the Eisiterion.

The ceremony took place in the Trullo Hall, in the Great Palace, on 2 March 1180. Alys was officially renamed Alexandra. Eustathios of Thessalonica produced a speech to celebrate the occasion, whose title in the manuscript is Oration on the Public Celebrations of the Betrothal of the Two Royal Children. This ceremony came approximately one month after the wedding of Alexios' half-sister Maria Porphyrogenita to Renier of Montferrat, conducted by the Patriarch of Constantinople, Theodosios.

A marriage between the Angevins and Capetians
A marriage between the Angevins and Capetians

On 1180 Joanna of England would gain proper dispensation to marry Philippe Auguste and the discussion of her dowry and the issue of Vexin would come up, naturally, it was granted by the pope as the two are related in prohibited degrees as Eleanor of Aquitaine used to be Louis VII’s wife, Adela of Champagne and Eleanor of Aquitaine were happy about this marriage happening as it is the marriage that they did want to happen.

And due to the marriage, the French territories of the Angevins are under French suzerainty and the issue of the Vexin would be solved and it would be under the Plantagenets as dowry of Marguerite.

Eleanor of Aquitaine would suggest a marriage between the widow Marie of France, her daughter and Philip II of Flanders who would repurdiate his first wife Elisabeth of Vermandois who is sent to a nunnery due to her being disgrace due to adultery and take Marie as his second wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine would betroth Scholastica of Champagne to the already widowed Raymond V of Toulouse and the betrothal between Isabella of Hainault and Henry of Champagne would be supported by Eleanor of Aquitaine and Adela of Champagne

No way England will let go the Vexin (and that issue by the way was resolved once for all when the county was given as dowry to Marguerite of France and she has a son by Henry the young King)
