In honour of the day, I thought it appropriate to post a Challenge. Not re - the success of the gunpowder plot because that's been discussed and it doesn't seem to end well for the Catholics in any bat free scenario. So the challenge is thus:

With a POD following the death of Queen Mary I, reunite England and Holy Mother Church. Bonus points for getting the Scots along for the ride.

Wouldn't that imply a PoD in February 1558? Given that her husband was back in his own kingdom at the time, that could present one or two difficulties...

Yeah that kind of defeats the purpose, so lets adjust that POD slightly to:

Any time after the coronation of Elizabeth I.

Minor quibble; Felipe II was Philip I of England; if he was named after his father, he would be Philip II of England, and, if Don Carlos, Prince of Asturias dies on schedule, Felipe III of Castile.
