The comic industry without World War 2

Lets say WW2 doesnt happen for a number of reasons (ie, Hitler dies in WW1 or something). How would the comic industry be changed? Would we still have patriotic characters like The Shield and Captain America? Would war comics be less popular? Would Crime and Horror overtake the popularity of superheroes sooner than IOTL? Would we still have Wertham protesting comics?

Captain America specifically, probably not--his creators were Jewish and they explicitly invented the character as a response to the Nazis well in advance of the American entry to the war

Maybe more Horror and Crime comics, that is if we avoid a Seduction of the innocents-like scam ittl

Considering that, if memory serves, what he was supposed to be studying was Crime comics*,
I would expect so.
*Superheroes only entered into it because he used the definition
"Does crime occur in the comic? Then it is a Crime comic."
