The British kill Hitler, what becomes of the hero?

There are many british plots to kill Hitler- Eddie Chapman offered to blow himself in a suicide attack, and there was a plan to parachute a sniper into austria, among other things. But are there any files on what the Allies would have rewarded the killer with (if he survived)? Imagine being known as The Man Who Killed Hitler...what prizes awaits you?

hmmm...off the top of my head.:D

- a movie (award winning might I add) by Steven Spielberg
- a bad-ass song by Iron Maiden
- An award winning game (also known as Return to Castle Wolfenstein)
- Statues all around the world
- a great grandson by the name of Duke Nukem
-an invitation to Churchill's deer hunting sessions

but honestly speaking, he'll probably get recognition all around the world and tons of mail. However, there will still be a number of people who will probably criticize him for his use of violence(there will always be naysayers). The British will probably offer him a large pension along with a large patch of land. his descendants will probably get an honorary position and will be giving speeches worldwide. The state of Israel will probably reward him too(they'll definitely have a street named after him).

Another interesting question to ask would be about the reception that he would get from neo-nazis.

Expect even the Germans to honor him post war; he saved them from their worst decision maker!

Or to hate him forever because the generals can't blame Hitler anymore when the Soviets are still kicking their ass all the way to Berlin :p

So does Germany surrender right after Hitler dies?
If so he/she is hailed for stopping WW2 so effectively.

If not, he/she fades into obscurity, only having half a paragraph in History Textbooks.

Not right after. Depending on when changes a LOT. If it is later in the war, then we see a civil war that cripples Germany and whomever comes out on top may decide to end it, but most likely not. Bitter end again, but the surrender happens in April instead of May most likely. No Berlin drama either.

If the war ends like that, maybe two paragraphs?

Killer -> Hitler -> Civil War -> New Leader -> Various struggles -> War ends

or he/she becomes one of the most hated persons of history.

british citizen to other britich citizen: IF only that fool would have not killed that idiot hitler we would proberly won the war :p

Well there is a reason why they decided not to kill Hitler, because the man was a tactical goon and was leading Germany down the shitter.

If he goes, the Allies lose there main advantage, that Hitler insisted on controlling everything. The man who replaces him will probably listen to the generals, and that could lead to German victory (depending on the date anyway).

Though I think Hitlers assassin will probably be caught fleeing Germany, so he/she will be remembered for the sacrifice they made rather than for ending the war.

Anyway, the best Hitler assassination was in a film that I think was called "Hitler, dead or alive" where the assassins disguise themselves as waiters at a Nazi do. They grab Hitler, drag him into a room, barricade it, give him an all over shave, stick him in a waiters uniform and let the guards in. They cannot recognise the Fhurer and take them all away to be executed.
