Ted Kennedy's Running Mate

Assuming that Ted Kennedy managed to snag the Democratic nomination (say, in an alternate 1972), who would his running mate be? I was thinking Scoop Jackson, or maybe Gene McCarthy, but if anyone else has an idea, please send it my way.

My money is on Ralph Yarborough. He probably would have be good for RFK, too.

In '72 probably a southerner, maybe the fresh young governor of Georgia?

In '80 my money is on Bentsen.

Oooooh, Yarborough's a good one, now that I've looked into him. I'm looking for someone less connected to LBJ, though.
