As the tin says. After winning the fight of Fishing Town which was a rather lopsided defeat for the Mongols, the Song instead of dithering, launch an immediate offensive while the Mongols pull back to fight a civil war and despite the troubles within the Song Court.

This was as good a time as any to hit back, especially with the Delhi and Egyptian Mameluks about to launch their own successful lopsided victory campaigns.

If the Song had done so and were successful, there is a good chance the Mameluks would have held onto to Rum after liberating it instead of abandoning it to shorten their supply lines and the Delhi Sultanate may have gone on to liberate all of Afghanistan rather than parts of it.
