Teaser - The Letter
The Letter
It was a crisp autumn evening. The little lorry rattled over the tiny railway crossing and into the courtyard. Out stepped two men, one short and fat, the other long and thin. They strode out towards the farmhouse, dropped a letter into the slot, and rang the doorbell.
Ding-dong.
George rose from the dining room table. His eyes darted from side to side. They finally settled on the doormat. A thick white envelope lay upon it, illuminated by light from the door. He walked over and picked it up. Fetching a letter-opener, he revealed the letter within. It began:
Don't move. We're here to help.
