Sigismund of Luxembourg dies in 1385

To be more precise-it happens in late spring or early summer of that year (classic horse ridding/hunting accident). What happens? Electorate of Brandenburg is just taken by his cousin Jobst a bit earlier, but most interesting things happens in Hungary. Sigismund's OTL mother-in-law dowager Queen and regent of Hungary Elizabeth of Bosnia has one problem solved-she preffered Louis d'Orléans, brother of king Charles VI of France, as husband of her older daughter. Sigismund isn't obstacle for her plans anymore, but there is still Charles of Durazzo with his own claim to Hungarian throne. Who is going to prevail? And if d'Orléans successfully claims Hungarian throne how would it impact France?

wasn't Carlo of Durazzo sort of "dependent" on magnates' goodwill though? So, if Sigismund is gone, many of their concerns (not saying all) would be removed, no?

Perhaps ITTL it is actually Elisabeth who gets poisoned instead of Charles II. And with the engagement of Mary and Ladislaus, all internal opposition could lose its ground.

The French option had way too many opposers both at home and abroad. It's not worth considering.

If Sigismund dies in that time, it means Elizabeth of Bosnia stays powerless prisoner, so I think Durazzo will hold his own. Even if there is still assasination, Margaret of Durazzo would probably agree to crown her son king of Hungary (IOTL she declined out of fear of her son's life, ITTL he'd be safer in Buda than in Naples)

So, being powerless, Elizabeth would agree for marriage of Mary and Ladislaus? There is no other way to keep her bloodline on Hungarian throne anyway.

I don't know, she could be delusional enough to still try murder but that won't change the situation because there would be no better candidates for Ladislaus's wife anyway
