So, I was just thinking about an alternate outcome for the 1848 Revolutions and I was wondering how plausible the scenario is, potential PoDs, and and how it might affect the future of Europe. The results of the Revolutions are:
- Constitutional monarchy, either Legitimist or Orleanist, in France.
- Italian unification as a federation of equal states. The Presidency of the Federation rotates between the monarchs of the member states. The Pope grants all of the Papal States to the Italian Federation except for the the Leonine City and they sign an equivalent of the OTL Lateran Treaty.
- The Habsburg Emperor accepts the offer of the Frankfurt Parliament but manages to control the Parliament enough that the result is a federal Empire of Germany similar in structure with the OTL German Empire. Prussia refuses to join and declares war to prevent Austrian dominance of Germany but falls to the combined might of the Habsburg realms and Silesia is returned to the Crown of Bohemia, although Prussia remains outside the new German state. France and Russia are too busy with internal affairs to intervene.
- Hungary becomes a constitutional monarchy in personal union with the Empire of Germany but loses Croatia-Slavonia.
- Galicia-Lodomeria becomes an independent state in personal union with the Empire of Germany.
- Croatia-Slavonia is reunited with Dalmatia to form the Triune Kingdom of Croatia, also in personal union with the Empire of Germany.
- Lombardy-Venetia is granted to the Italian Federation under a Habsburg cadet branch.
- The end of serfdom and reduced power of the nobility on Russia.
- Revolutions go as OTL elsewhere.
