The Baen Books twitter feed has just posted a tweet saying that Robert Conroy has died of cancer.

RIP Mr. Conroy and I'll give credit where credit is due. I did not always like his books but he wrote books that sold and he was prolific up to the very end.

His books were actually pretty decent.

Even his Trent War book, while somewhat bad, was OK (it was Citizen Kane compared to Harry Harrison's version).

RIP. 1901 was one of the first real AH novels I read, and was responsible for my plunge into AH as a hobby.

RIP. Himmler's War was the first AH book, and thanks to him I got into the genre. I have enjoyed all of his books, and hopefully he finished Custer and Germania before he passed away.
