Possibility Check: Cool Things Emerging in South Vietnam

I think the decolonisation was this huge shift that really changed things that at places created a power vaccum that could be filled with interesting things. I find that interesting, especially if it can avoid the cold war conflict.

I read up on the first Indochina war and found that it had some really cool players. What are the chance these or something else gain a foothold in Vietnam?
