Bumper sticker from Robertson's 1988 campaign.

In September of 1986, Pat Robertson announced his intention run for President in 1988 under the Democratic. After getting three million signatures, Robertson announced that he would run in 1988 in September of 1987. Following his announcement, Roberston surrendered his ministerial credentials and turned leadership of CBN over to his son, Tim. At a close margin, Roberston had defeated incumbent Vice President, Gerald Ford in the Democratic primary.

Red- Pat Robertson
Blue- Gerald Ford

Robertson campaigned himself as a man who knew the difference between religion and politics and campaigned to continue President Ted Kennedy's policies, which had slowly become unpopular by 1988. However, the Socialist Party, now reunited after most of the decade divided due to the ongoing conflict in Venezuela, had used Robertson's negative views on feminism, LGBTQ people, abortion, college professors, and other religions. A clip of Roberston saying that Mormons were "demons hellbent on world domination," said just after American troops landed in Venezuela, was used in Socialist ads. Ultimately, due to the Democrats taking the blame for the late 1980s recession, Americans being tired of the war in Venezuela, and Roberston's beliefs, the Socialists, with Leo Enos as their Presidential candidate, won an election for the first time in twelve years.

A different interpretation of Leo Enos:

Tom_Lehrer_performing_in_Copenhagen%2C_1967_%2810%29.jpg

Who Sunk Leo Enos? is a satirical song written and performed by famed comical musician Tom Lehrer in 1974. The song referenced the bribery case of democratic congressman Leo Enos and the fact that Joe Kennedy Jr. may have used Enos as a fall guy to cover up his own corruption.

Who sunk Leo Enos?
They say it was the press.
Or was it the Massacheusetts Senator
who forced Enos to confess?

His grandfather fought against the Limeys
And his father against the J-ps.
But only Leo has the distinction
of falling into an FBI trap.

Who sunk Leo Enos?
They say he's a strategist, to be fair
But his orders don't come from generals
but from Texas millionaires.

[....]

Enos called Lehrer a "goddamn son of a bitch" and threatened to personally punch him in the face if he ever came to Massacheusetts. The song was controversial among some Americans, who criticized Lehrer for making fun of the sinking of the Erikson and for lines mocking the relationship between Sylvia Enos and Ernie, which lead to Sylvia's death.

Idi Amin will play a role as an anticolonial resistance fighter and will become a hero, but the cost of doing so will become immense.

1973 portrait of Heinz Kissinger, German Chancellor from 1976 to 1990.

Kissinger was the first Jewish Chancellor of Germany but also one of its controversial. In 1979, the United States invaded Venezuela to support the newly formed Democratic Republic of Venezuela, starting the American-Venzeulan War. With the war dragging into 1980, Kissinger, much to the shock of the world, announced that Germany would be boycotting the 1980 Olympics held in Philadelphia. Throughout the war, Kissinger would call for a ceasefire and American withdrawal. In 1992, a document was leaked that Kissinger's government had given the Venezuelan rebels weapons in secret. Along with Germany's soft stance on the 1992 Bosnian Rebellion, and the end of the Bitter Cold with Japan in 1991, many Americans had used this document to justify leaving the Central Powers. In January 1993, in one of the last actions of Leo Enos as President, the United States withdrew from the Central Powers.

In 2023, Kissinger had passed away. He leaves behind a controversial legacy. In Venezuela, under the rule of radical Mormons since the end of the German War in Venezuela (2001-21), national mourning was held when news broke of Kissinger's death. While national mourning was held in his home country, many Germans and others aboard had criticized him, saying that he had helped "broke the Central Powers," some going as far as to blame him for the Reichstag attack of 2001.
This is giving me some "we've always been at war with eurasia" vibes.

Imagine your legacy being one of ruining your country's relationship with your strongest ally. I can only imagine how the general public in Germany would feel about him.

District map of Bougainville (North Solomons)

Bougainville is an autonomous region in German New Guinea. The region went into open revolt late into the Bitter Cold, although it had little to no support from the Japanese due to the rebellions in the Japanese Empire. The rebellion ended in a stalemate in April of 1998. Bougainville gained autonomous status following the rebellion. In 2019, Bougainville voted to become independent from Germany. As one of the last actions of the AfD government before the 2021 German Federal Election, an agreement was signed to allow Bougainville to become independent by 2027 if the Bundestag approves it.

Idi Amin the first non-German and the first African native to be appointed Statthalter of Mittelafrika in 1968 by personal selection of chancellor Henry Kissinger. Although hopes were very high and there was optimism in the air over the life of the people in MittleAfrika seeing improvement due in part to seeing themselves being govern by one of their own, that optimism was quickly dashed as Idi Amin turned out to be one of the most brutal and barbaric rulers the world had seen as he ruled MittleAfrika with an iron first.

By the time Idi Amin was removed from his post personally by Kaiser Wilhelm IV after discovering Idi Amin's atrocities, millions of Africans had died under Amin's rule in the almost 12 years he had ruled MittleAfrika.

Photo of Al Gore, 1996 Socialist Party Vice President Nommie.

Gore was elected as a Senator of Tennesse (Class 2), one of the few Socialists to hold such a position in the former CSA outside Louisiana. Gore was selected as Carl Martin's running mate in 1996. With the Socialist Revolution [1], where the Socialists made huge gains over the Democrats in the House and Senate in the 1994 Midterms, optimism for Carl Martin winning the election over incumbent Bob Dole. However, the election was closer than in 1992, and ultimately Dole won. The House and Senate were still in Socialist hands, but the Socialists lost some seats, including Gore's seat in the Senate.

Some stuff about the Olympics in TL-191.

Los Angeles was chosen as the host for the 1932 Summer Olympics. However, the games were canceled due to the city being devasted in the Pacific War between the US and Japan.

The Winter and Summer Olympics Games were the first Olympic Games to be held in Asia. Much like the 1936 Olympics, it was a show of propaganda force by the Entente Powers. Due to tensions between the US and Japan being worsened due to the Pacific War, the US did not attend. The 1940 Olympics are best remembered for their tense environment due to the war clouds looming over Europe and the Pacific.

Photo of Soong Mei-ling (or Madame Chiang Kai-Shek) delivering an address to the US Congress on February 13, 1943.

Mei-ling delivered this address to urge the US and the Central Powers at large to give more support to the Republic of China in the Second Sino-Japanese War. Her efforts would be in vain as China would fall to the Japanese in the Fall of 1944, months after the end of the European and North American theaters of the war.

U.S. troops with Army Group Midwest pushing through a village in northwest Georgia in November, 1943. Although the area saw unusually heavy rain for that time of year, it only marginally slowed General Morrell's advance towards Atlanta. Indeed, the city would fall in late December of that year effectively splitting the Confederacy in two.

200px-Patrice_Lumumba,_1960.jpg

Patrice Lumumba, the second native African Statthalter of Mittelafrika.

Lumumba was a political enemy of Amin, who narrowly survived assassination attempts by his thugs. Lumumba had brought to light Amin's actions in the colony and appealed to the international community to remove him. The colonial government censored Lumumba's efforts, and he was arrested for "sedition." However, Lumumba's stories would catch the attention of Kaiser Wilhelm IV. In 1980, Amin's government was dissolved after a meeting between him and the Kaiser. In 1981, after a brief takeover by the military, Lumumba was made Statthalter. Lumumba's government is credited for the region having greater autonomy, and over time both Mittelafrika and other German overseas territories would become self-governing dominions.
