Whilst I would not detract a jot from your comments about Johnny Walker, in keeping with the thread I would substitute Johnny with Jackie Broome, commander of HMS Keppel and author of 'Convoy is to Scatter' He was the commander of the close escort on PQ17. He sued the very unpleasant holocaust denier David Irving for libel in 1976 and won after Irving suggested that Broome was responsible for the destruction of the convoy in his (subsequently withdrawn) book PQ17.
