Assuming few butterflies Charles won the battle of Soissons Charles even before tours manged to defeat Odo and sack his capital so Charles could still until the Frankish and subdue Italy
Charlegmame assuming he is still born could conquer the Saxons as for Italy it would depend it Constans II is successfull at reconquering the peninsula and therefore how strong the byzantine empire is in 800 ad

No Islam means a greatly strengthened Constantinople. Which means the Papacy doesn't need to go hunting for a new protector. So yeah, whatever the Franks wind up with does not get termed the Holy Roman Empire.

Well, there were other political concerns over theological and legal power. The pope might want protection FROM Constantinople

True but i think the situation with Odoacer and theodoric would evolved IE the franks if they conquer parts of Italy would at least in name want to recognized by the roman emperor ( if they are not gutted by Islam no iconoclast controversy and no Irene ) the best an alt charlegmame can get is been the "viceroy" of the emperor in the west

No islam means no Charles Martel, as he was born long after the POD. In this scenario, the interesting question is what happens with the (East) Roman Empire (which prior to the Muslim conquests had reconquered much of the west). One problem for the empire would be religious divisions between various branches of Christianity. This was particularly a problem in the east. Would the empire keep Syria and Egypt? The empire would also still have the Sassanid enemy. Would the pope be as important as he was in OTL or would we see that the kings had more control over their kingdoms? It has been argued by some (like Pirenne) that Europe would be richer than OTL, as the Muslim conquests hindered trade. If this is true, then the pope would probably be less powerful vis-a-vis the kings than in OTL.
