Napoleon on the La Perouse Expedition?

My apologies in advance if this has already been talked about.

I was passing the time reading the Wikipedia, and I came across a little bit of information that stuck out. Apparently, Napoleon had applied to join the La Perouse Expedition that sailed around much of the Pacific in the late 1780s, for his skills made him potentially valuable in a naval setting. Obviously, he was rejected, and the expedition eventually vanished, though much of what it learned had been separately shipped off to Europe.

What if Napoleon had been accepted, however? Presume that butterflies allows for the expedition to return safely to France, for one reason or another. The rise of Napoleon to the top would undoubted be butterflied away, but could we feasibly see Napoleon squaring off against Nelson in the Revolutionary Wars and their aftermath?
