Maria Elisabeth of Austria

Daughter of Maria Theresa, Empress of Austria, died unmarried.
Who might Maria Elisabeth (1743-1808) marry?

If you can prevent her catching, smallpox which terribly scarred her face, making her considered unfit for marriage, she may not became the abbess of the Convent for Noble Ladies in Innsbruck from 1780, so you will have to make her stay away from the convent.

She became known for her sharp tongue and would eventually became greatly overweight.

If it was not for the scars, she would have been married to King Louis XV of France

Maria Elisabeth might marry Prince Albert Casimir of Saxony, Duke of Teschen (1738-1822).
He was a younger son of King Augustus III of Poland and Maria Josepha of Austria.

Not bloody likely. Mimi was the only one of Maria Theresia's daughter who was allowed to marry a man of her choosing, solely because a) she was her mother's favorite, and b) she exploited the funk MT was in after François of Lorraine died.

That said, Maria Elisabeth was considered for Louis XV, but her smallpox scars put paid to that idea. Mimi was supposed to marry the duke of Chablais as part of her father's plan to patch Austro-Savoyard relations. Provided François dies on schedule, and Louis rejects her as OTL, Elisabeth might end up as duchess of Chablais.

As I said, if you keep her free of smallpox, then King Louis XV, would marry her, which would then change the whole course of the history of France.

Just curious, how might this occur hesides there heing two Austrians at Versailles instead of one.
Antoinette would still (most likely) end up as dauphine, the Mesdames wouldn't like Maria Elisabeth replacing their sainted mama - since to their eyes she'd only be a shade better than du Barry.

Also, her tongue is not likely to make her many friends amongst the courtiers except amongst the more pro-Austrian party.

She is 15, learning French at this age should be fine, especially with French and German being closely related.

As for Antoinette, I doubt, Marie Elizabeth, would allow her step-grandson to marry her sister :S

She would most likely push her sister away from france and have maybe Duchess Sophia Frederica of Mecklenburg-Schwerin marry Louis XVI.

Oh I don't know..maybe she charms the drawing rooms with her sharp tongue (A Regina George for the 1760s) and Louis XV with her coquettishness. By the time Marie Antoinette rolls around, the Mesdames are cowed and she has an easier time of it, what with a strong mentor on site and all.

The French wouldn't be an issue since the home language of the Imperial family was French and even the empress spoke Viennese German. That said, MT had it slated since the Diplomatic Revolution that one of her daughters would marry LXV's grandson, it was mere misfortune/luck that Antoinette was sent, since if Caroline had not had to replace Josepha at Naples, she would've ended up as dauphine instead.

That said, the primary candidate for a marriage partner for LXVI had been tossed around since he was born -Maria Amalia of Saxony - while his older sister, Marie Zéphyrine would marry Frederick Augustus III. There was latter some interest in FA3 marrying Mme Clothilde, and when Mme Zéphyrine died, it had been suggested that Mme Adélaïde marry Prince Franz Xavier, Regent of Saxony, instead. Needless to say Adélaïde was not impressed with the idea. Maria Amalie later became Duchess of Zweibrücken through her marriage to Karl II, but the majority of the anti-Austrian party, including the Dauphine, preferred the idea of her to an Austrian girl.
