Also the electors OTL were almost suspiciously diversely titled
This was on purpose no? They had electors to represent the different cultural regions of Germany (Franks, Saxons etc), they had ecclesiastical electors and secular electors (important since for most of the Empire's history the Catholic Church was the one personally crowning Emperors til after Charles V) and they eventually tried to keep a balance between Protestant and Catholic electors very much on purpose after the peace of Westphalia (like making Brunswick an elector). So you had a wide range of stakeholders in the Empire wielding power and being able to give their feedback/choice on the emperor to keep the empire somewhat cohesive and in line with what all the different churches and princes of everywhere would put up with.

New Century Map Game - 20th century - 1930.png

Current map of the game New Century Map Game : 20th century which saw the US and Europe go to war due a crisis in Venezuela which saw the US be defeated and lead to the current situation. Currently the world is heading to a second world war after the first saw the defeat of the Germans and widespread revolutions leading to the British Empire being lead by Socialist and Central Europe being a Communist German National State.

Global

Across the world the Socialist expand having won out in London and by doing so taking over their empire. The Socialist Party of Britain(SPB) would none the less be pragmatic and keep the King as they saw themselves as the same British Empire but under the ideology and economic system of socialism. Such a change would lead to the further destabilization of America which looks to be on the edge of suffering its own collapse.

The rest of the world is dealing with the economic problems the lose of a major market to the world and the shock of Japan and China separating away from each other which would further damage the global market. Now the Socialist are looking at the situation as a prime time to expand to fully recreate the world under the red banner and bring a new order, as the world ever marches closer to war.

Americas

Across Canada those who did not choose to join the Leftist forces in Britain, lie in wait to reclaim their homeland from the red menace. In here thousands of British expats have fled taking anything they can carry into Canada as the one final region of the British Empire which is not under Leftist control in what many call the British Exodus . This has in turn lead to Canada's population to explode from all the immigration into the country along with the major industrial and general development that the nation has undergone to hopefully retake the homeland and the empire.

None the less the Canadians look south with worry as many see the rise of socialism in the US as the start of another leftist foothold on the continent which has lead to an increasing militarization across the US-Canadian border as many worry on what might occur in the US proper.

The US has not had a good few years. While the nation has managed to avoid any major disasters compared to before the US has somewhat stagnated and has not managed to become the major power they could have been. Now as the nation deals with their own economic problems, continued emigration, and worse of all prohibition which is worse in this world as it has increasingly found itself used in part by anti-communism/socialism to increase the power of the federal government and to crack down on the population which has not been taken well by most.

Now the US is dealing with the rise of organized crime, socialists movements, and the states increasingly ignoring the US federal government as many across the region make business with other nations without US federal approval. Notably California and Texas have increasingly worked with international forces to trade and support themselves as the US federal government weakens.

With the war in Cuba and increasing economic depression and mass unemployment many are increasingly taking the socialist cause which is causing several clashes between them and the government which is only increasing in violence and intensity. Many watch with worry what is occurring in the once mighty behemoth.

Cuba has become a major problem for the US as the state became the go to place for illegal activity due to the states laws being less enforced which would turn Cuba into a major den for corruption and organized crime. Not helping was the divided between the Americans and Cubans which lead to general inequality and growing resentment across the region. Now the Cubans have increasingly resisted US ownership as the US becomes weaker the locals have begun a major resistance against the US with support from groups like organized crime, Italy, and the British who all support the local resistance for one reason or another. This Cuban Revolution has increasingly cost the US in both manpower and economic power as several soldiers die leading to further instability in the US proper.

Across the Caribbean the British Socialists have managed to gain control mostly after the local British naval forces choose to join them. This was made easier by the major support from the locals who were in support of the socialists in the hopes of creating a more equal and fair society for their people. With the US being near and the Canadians also looking to take the region back, the Caribbean has been reinforced turning it into a major military region for the British and their goals.

Mexico continues to do well as the nation has fully become a major local power in their own right actually surpassing the US in terms of economics as the nation develops. With this they have also managed to become a destination from immigrants from across the Americas, with the US especially being one of their main sources for people. This has actually caused tensions to grow between the US and Mexico as Mexico has increased its influence across Texas and other regions where Federal powers wanes.

Across the region of the Andes, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia would suffer from major problems as while the nations would initially prosper the growing divide between the elites and the rest of society would lead to a growing tension across the nations, Eventually due to the economic problems across the world, the nations would suffer major economic problems leading to major revolts and eventually civil war as the rebels and the government would fight it out. Most notably this rebel groups would be largely be driven by the local native people who were most affected by the global events.

This would lead to the rise of the Aymara and Quechua States to form across the region. Apart from the natives other areas like Madre de Dios(Peru/Bolivia) would also rebel against the Bolivian state. Such rebellions were in large part supported by the Republic of the Amazon, the Jungle Nation, and the Republic of Acre as they tried to further their influence across the Andes by creating new states as new friends or puppet states.

Europe
Western Europe

If there was a defining event that would shape Europe it would be the rise of Socialism/Communism and to be more clear, its rise across the British Empire. In Britain the rise of Communism can be traced to the Irish War of Independence which would take an increasing toll on the British people especially as France, Irish descended Americans and the Union of Central European Workers' Republics would support the Irish and their independence with arms, supplies, and even volunteers all being sent into the region. This would cause continued casualties and eventually economic downturn as the US and France would impose economic sanctions on some British businesses if they continued the war.

All of this would lead to the British Depression which would effect the population as a whole and lead to the major rise of Socialist and Vahe Khachatryan influence Nationalist across the nation. Things come to head when the government would increasingly move to remove Nationalist elements in the military which would lead to the major rise of Socialist influence in the military. It was with this that the March to London would occur where members of the British Military and Socialist would march on London and manage to take the city. This would lead to several other Socialist and their supporters to rise up and take over the rest of the island and other parts of the Empire especially as the Navy would support said Socialist regiment as long as they held major influence.

The Socialist Party of Britain(SPB) would quickly take over the British Empire with little bloodshed. While many believed or hoped that the SPB would bring great change to the nation, and while they did bring change, it was nowhere near as extreme as the SPB was more willing to be pragmatic to maintain power. Notably the SPB is more Red-Brown as the Socialist are much more willing to allow Capitalism in the Empire, along with some autonomy for its subjects abroad, and would even allow the King to remain in power, although in reality he lost all real power and was in effect a prisoner in his own nation. Its not surprising then that compared to its German counterpart the SPB has had an easier time to spread itself and to become the major power in the Communist International.

To say that the rest of Europe did not take this development well could not be understated as Frances attempt to move into the Britain failed due to fears of another war leading only to them saving the Isle of Wight. France for starter would move to re-create the Entente as they tried to unite the rest of Europe against the communists, but due their efforts would fail due to Frances own ideology, with Clemenceau and his general anti-colonial policy proving to much for the Italians and others, although it probably would have failed due to Italy's and others movement into radicalism. Either way France would still create the New Entente with Belgium in Europe, which would lead France to greatly increase its own military to defend against the communists around them.

Another major change in Europe would be the Spain which would find have to deal with its own problems which would eventually lead to the rise of a Socialist friendly government. Even if said government was neutral the possibility of a Socialist friendly nation next to them was to much for the French and Italians which lead to them to support the far-right elements in the nation leading to several military forces to attempt to take over the country. This would lead to the Spanish Civil War as both factions fight against each other which would become a major flash point for the next major war.

As for the rest of Europe, Italy would lead to the rise of Vahe Khachatryan inspired Nationalist take over as a reaction to the spread of Communism. During this time Italy would start to increase its military and lead a diplomatic effort to create its own alliance. This would lead them to ally with other powers like Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, and Bulgaria to create the Pact of Iron, an alliance of other Nationalist minded nations to defend against communism.

The Union of Central European Workers' Republics would eventually avoid falling apart as the nation doubled down on its military and totalitarianism leading to any opposition being crushed inside the nation. This plush the rise of the British Socialists gave the UCEWR a major step up as they could now trade with another powerful communist state, but there would be an increase in tensions as the UCEWR and the British did not fallow the same kind of communism/socialism leading them to not work as well together.

Outside of that the UCEWR did see several thousand people being forced out of the nation as they choose to force the Jews, Roma, and other out of the nation, which would eventually lead to the Great Expulsion as all of the nations Jews, Poles, Roma and others considered enemies of the state had their property and belongings taken and forced out of the nation, or mostly "bargained" away to any nation who was willing to pay to take them in, allowing the UCEWR to massively grow its own industry and fully rebuild from the WW1.

Eastern Europe

Poland would experience a major rise in nationalism which lead the nation towards its eventual annexation of areas of former Prussia as the Poles at that point had turned rather anti-German which would lead to them to force most of the Prussian population out of the nation as they annexed Prussia. Poland for its most part would overall become a major military power as it went out of its way to industrialize which helped it with its conflict with Russia which would further see Poland expand into Russia and its former allies as Poland looked to create a Greater Poland to dominate the area and avoid falling under the influence of any other powers, as they allied with Italy to further strengthen themselves.

Ukraine also saw a similar situation as Poland as they became Poland's puppet state in the region as the Poles did not want to annex so much land at the moment. For their own part the Ukrainians now act as Poland's guard against Russia and as a source of resources and people to support the Polish nation.

Russia did not do that well as its continued losses in Central Asia and Eastern Europe would continue later on as Poland and Russia went to war in the Russian-Polish War which saw Russia lose even more land to the Poles, Ukrainians, and even the Greeks. All of this saw the fall of the previous government with the Tsar's retaking power which would lead to Russia to focus on rebuilding as they had to many enemies and most of the population wished to rebuild and avoid conflict for the moment. None the less more and more it seems like things might take a wrong turn as there is an increasing amount of Socialists across the Russian-SSCA border as many Russian socialists simply move across the border before the Russian forces can take them. All of this is leading to destabilization across the Russian Empire as more and more people worry about either another Civil War or an invasion. This has also lead to an increase in Japanese forces being asked to move into Siberia by worried Siberian governors and military commanders who worry about the Socialist and are willing to allow the Japanese into the area.

Greece would become a major ally of Italy and Poland as they would decide to invade Russian Constantinople for themselves along with other regions around the Black Sea with Crimea being another major price in their bounty. Now they have begun to aggressively assimilate the local population to Greek culture as the state looks to expand across the rest of Anatolia and maybe even further.

Africa

As London and Britain fell to the Socialists the rest of Africa would fallow as the local socialist and British naval forces choice to join the SPB and their cause. Since then the British territories have become part of the greater British Empire and have seen an increase in military build up as the British look to expand socialism and their influence across the continent.

France would give further autonomy to the locals of their African colonies as they wished to put most of their attention towards the homeland and they also wish to avoid giving the communist an easy way to gain influence in the region. Since then the French have agreed to give the colonies independence if they wish to at a later date and have effectively giving the locals vast control over their own lands.

Italy would continue to colonize their territories Libya by sending settlers into the region. They have also tried to expand by actively trying to take over Ethiopia, which has backfired as the region is know seen mass resistance by local socialist rebellions funded by the British and UCEWR, which is costing the Italians in an increasing number of lives and equipment. The Ethiopians for their own part continue to resist the Italians and have actively pushed them back on some fronts as the Ethiopian forces continue to gain support.

The Senussi Order have become a major economic and industrial power in the area but are increasingly coming into conflict with the British Socialist over land disputes and British support of Socialist in parts of Africa which they already own. Not helping is the increasing military build up that the British are doing near their border or the conflict between the Islamic Socialism that is being spread from Egypt which is acting as a major ideological enemy to the Senussi own ideology and control over the region.

The Congo has continued to receive immigrants from Europe and Asia which has lead to continued development across the entire Congo. More importantly due to Belgium being right in the front lines of any future French-Socialist conflict a large number of Belgium have decided to immigrate into the Congo to avoid being stuck on the front lines. In fact a plan to move the population of Belgium into the region has been enacted as a large number of civilians have been moved there to avoid the war as the military mostly stays back home. With this plan its not before long that a large percentage of the Belgium population has moved there.

Portugal is increasingly dealing with their own socialist problem with the interior of Angola proving a major problem to police the region as more and more people are joining the Socialist cause for an independent Angola. With the Portugal being so close to the Spanish and British Socialist many worry about being another front in the coming war.

Asia

During its time the Turks fully see the rise of its own Socialist movements as the people there wish to gain support to move against the Greeks and others and for that they need support, which they receive from the British.

The Caucuses have seen major growth as the area receives investment from other nations from across Europe, with Armenia becoming the major economic and military power in the region as they wish to avoid being taken over by the British, Arabs, or Turks. For this Azerbaijan sees the major growth in its oil extraction and refinement and becomes one of the worlds largest producers of oil. Both nations have further united with other Caucasus nations to lead the Caucuses League, an alliance of Caucuses nations against their bigger neighbors.

The Kingdom of Arabia would eventually come into conflict with the new British Socialist who wished to take over the region to further increase their influence and ability to move troops and materials across the Middle East. In the British-Arab War the nation suffered from a major invasion from both its east and west the Kingdom of Arabia was not prepared for such a battle and would eventually lose against the overwhelming numbers of the socialists. Since then the it has received major investment to become the major transportation hub of the region, as it also becomes a major supporter of Islamic Socialism or Islam with Socialist Characteristics.

In Central Asia the local Emirs would take the change of government of London with worry and fear as a large parts of the region were in large part occupied by British troops attempts to remove the British did not go well as the British troops were better armed and would receive a large number of reinforcements from India. It was during the Central Asian-British War that several of the local leaders would agree to negotiate with the British. During that time they would be allowed control over Central Asia if they supported the Socialist parties in the nation which they agreed to as they wished to keep some power. The situation would lead to the rise of the Central Asian Socialist Party which would gain control over the region and establish the Socialist State of Central Asia which in large part would take Socialism and combine it with Islam leading to the creation of Islamic Socialism or Islam with Socialist Characteristics, which would become a major ideology across the British Empire and its Islamic subjects. Since then the SSCA has received major investment from the British to create a major defense against any potential Russian aggression and to allow them to develop the area to further allow the British access to the regions resources.

Across the region of Mesopotamia, major investment would turn the region back to its former glory as vast canals and infrastructure has turned the region into a booming area as a major population boom occurs leading to further growth.

The once independent Iran would be fully taken over by the British Empire after several other smaller rebellions would occur against the British and later the Socialists. Since then Iran would become part of the British Empire and its Socialist Ideology with the region receiving vast amount of investment to develop the British new conquests, along with a major move to break the Iranians will for independence by increasing the amount of Indians across the region. Such actions are not fully supported by the Iranians but with the entire region fully under the British boot, it would be difficult for them to leave.

The remaining powers of Afghanistan, Tibet, and Xinjiang would all fall under British influence and would also see the rise of their own socialist governments as the continued to be British puppet states.

One of the regions most affected by the changes in Britain and the rise of Socialism would be India which would be fully transformed by the rise of Socialism. Due to the influence of Socialism thousands of people rise up from poverty as India becomes the new beating heart of the British Empire as massive industrial and agricultural infrastructure leads the region to increasingly to become one of the worlds largest industrial and economic region from across the world. This has lead to major military build up which has allowed thousands of new soldiers move to support the empire and further expand the ideology of Socialism across the entire world.

The Mingshun would increasingly separate from Japan as the nationalistic parties in charge of the nation increasingly wished to retake what they saw as rightful Chinese territories from Japan and other powers which left the nation isolated from Japan and most other powers. Since then China has increasingly found itself suffering from the rise of their own socialist movements as the separation from Japan was not without issue as many Chinese businesses suffered from the changes in the economy and lack of Japanese markets. This would lead to the rise of socialists across the west of the nation especially across the Muslim and rural population of China who increasingly see the current government as not having the best interests in mind for China. None the less others within China are looking to once again rejoin Japan but they are forced underground as the military hunts them down for potentially being threats to their power.

Japan for its own right would suffer its own problems as the nation would lose their major trading partner in China leading to the nation to also suffer their own economic issues. Japan did have an easier time off it due to their greater ability to contact other markets due to their navy as they could look towards Latin America and Europe for support. Either way Japan has seen its own rise of nationalists movements as Japan looks to further expand its influence across the Pacific and Asia, as more of its troops march into Russia and its border with China.

There is an increase amount of resistance in places like Korea and Manchuria where Korean and Chinese nationalist are working against the Japanese, which are both supported by the Chinese as they hope to remove China from the region.

French Indochina has not received as much autonomy as the French wished to give it as more and more threats appear across the region as both China and Britain increase their military forces across the border. This has caused some resistance in Indochina proper but fears of either Chinese or British control has stopped them from fully starting a rebellion, along with the French actively trying to improve things their living standards and showing their willingness to eventually give independence to their colonies.

Thailand was a nation that did not survive as their own socialist movement would grow due to the influence of Britain which lead to the Thai Civil War and the rise of the Socialist government in the region. Due to its strategic position the entire region has become part of the British Empire which is not what most Thai socialist hoped for. Either way its now a major British naval base and a place to eventually strike into French Indochina.

Dutch Indonesia is seeing an increase in Socialist forces as the British send more support to the local resistance fighters which is taking more Dutch forces to keep in check which is becoming harder to keep under control, and with the British being all around them many are increasingly looking to abandon the region or give it up to the Japanese so they can focus on the homeland.

The Philippines are increasingly being filled by the Japanese who have started to immigrate across the region in mass. While there has been some resistance especially down south, Japan has managed to keep control of the island and is in the process of assimilating into the rest of Japan proper.

Oceania and the rest

Like in London the Australians would fallow the Socialist especially after the Australian government banned the local Socialist party angering many and leading to the rise of the socialist in Australia. Currently large parts of the region are seeing an increase in immigration especially from India.

Due to the situation in Brazil and Britain the island of Santa Helena would be effectively abandoned which would lead to the area to be effectively independent. During that time the region would eventually be taken by Russian man known as Alexander who would effectively turn it into his playground as many of his mistresses would make that place home as the local population lacked any way to defeat him and his supporters.

A similar event would happen with South Georgian Island although this was taken by a Japanese business man who claimed the islands and all of Antarctica. Bringing his own workers and supporters the State of Antarctica was born.

...WHAT JAPAN HAS INVENTED
KOREA HAS PERFECTED...

Ok, so limited time, but I wanted to get this map in to have a proper contest and show the work I had begun. Honestly, although the map has strong foundations, it is very incomplete, but I didn't know where to go with it for a lot of time and now I have no more time whatsoever to think about it more, since I'll be away for a bit, so this is what I got in the end.

So, beginning with the setting, it is one I have had for the longest time about Japan industrializing using the hot springs as an early energy source. I had this idea after reading about how early British industrialization came from water wheels rather than coal, and that coal only surpassed it later because of the constraints water wheels have, namely location and timing. So I decided to work with that and have Japan industrialize on a water level, with very firm limitations, and then Korea being the one developing steam power through their coal deposits. I also found it an interesting reversal of the two countries' historical dynamics and reminded me a bit of a reverse England-Netherlands situation.
How to represent that in a map proved a complication question to answer, but ultimately I settled with drawing icons for Japanese hot springs and Korean steam mills, that are roughly located where Korean coal deposits are. I'm not sure what I could add to it, though, although I feel the map is still quite empty. But oh well, at least the idea is out there and there is a map.

I also like the coloring, the background and the rough coastlines. I think it is a very vibrant map, even if in content it doesn't have as much as I would have wanted.
Damn, when I saw the topic of this month, I thought of Korean coal too. The hot springs industrialisation is very clever, didn't think of that

Delightful.
Thanks!

What a shitty idea the French had of letting an alien race settle peacefully on Earth. Didn't what they did to other races on a dozen other planets serve as a warning? 😛
I really like your map and the references to Lovecraft and Herbert. I don't know if there are any other nods to other planets.
Thank you! The rest of the planets are more or less references to different Earth's continents colonized in the past.

I'm going to ask: how do you make these maps? I was seriously wishing to make these since I looked at the content of RVBOMally on DeviantArt.
I'm using paint and paint.net. Basemap is here https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/attachments/8qn9v-png.287343/

How did you convert the Donjon maps into worlda map?
By paint.net
I reduced the size of the donjon map image, put it on another layer, lowered its transparency, and traced the outlines of the continents on the leading layer. and voila!

The traditional electors was not really that representative, we have the two secular electors on the Wendish frontier, the king of Bohemia, fours electors in the Frankish Rhineland one secular and three ecclesial.

Lower Saxony, Swabia, Bavaria and Austria were not represented.
Well, Swabia was the first region to collapse into a true bordergory mess with the extinction of the Staufers. There was no one strong enough there to become electors anyways. I guess the Welfs could represent Lower Saxony, but tbh, they kept dividing their lands into at minimum 3-4 branches at all times and were just doing their own thing? The palatine electorate was specifically a point of contention with the Bavarians since both fiefs were ruled by a Wittelsbach and both wanted the vote AND there was no way that both of them were going to get a vote. Iirc there was even a conception of sharing the vote??? Yeah I forget, but the fact that the Palatine branch got the vote and not the Bavarian, shimmered for like, 300 years. As for the Habsburgs, they were rival claimants to whatever emperor approved the papal bull that downsized the electorate to seven. I believe it was a Luxembourger? So yeah, no vote for Austria.

Tbh I always wondered if someone inherited several electorates or even a majority of the electorates and they just kept voting for themselves... The closest OTL I think was Frederick V of the palatinate getting elected as the King of Bohemia, and if he was able to keep his crown, he would have had two votes. I doubt it's possible tho, yes the Bohemian crown was technically elective and they looked at female lines too, but Saxe-Wittenberg, Brandenburg, and the Palatinate were all under Salic law I believe, so you could feasibly only have two votes at once because you can't really inherit any of those three through your mother...

Shillelagh fighting mixed with Chinese martial arts is incredibly based, thank you.
I wish I could take credit for the idea but unfortunately it came from the source material.
What happened to Iran?

Those are the smallest borders i've seen for the nation without it being absolutely gone.
Essentially they were squeezed between the Turks and Chinese and most recently, the growing Bakhshi Empire out of Afghanistan took control of Khorasan.
Russia erasure again! :coldsweat:
Didn't realize that was a trend. They got really unlucky here between Polish and Chinese expansion.

This follows fast on the heels of Nizam's post, in which the lack of Genghis Khan somehow means Russia does _worse_ than OTL and gets largely overrun by Poland. You've changed the original scenario, in which Russia is a pretty major country (including the Balkans south of Hungary, although this part could be interpreted as laziness on the part of the artist o_O ) and Poland is a Chinese vassal of no particular prominence, to one in which European Russia is entirely overrun by Poland. If I see another Russia gets overrun by Poland (possibly aided by some combinations of China, the Swedes, and maybe the Ottomans ) within the next month I'll have to conclude it's enemy action. :p

There is a special cell in Siberia reserved for all the Poland Overruns Russia mappers 😜 (I have such a situation myself in some WIP map I never posted I think. Or maybe it was Lithuania that conquered Russia.)

I can see Lithuania conquering Russia. The Jagiellonians just convert to Orthodoxy and the Grand Duchy rather than Muscovy unifies the Russian lands.

I mean, a Russian with a major Baltic coast early would definitely be a different sort of power. Maybe it'd avoid the Caucasus and focus on going east for trade goods to sell in Reval or Riga and south to stop the Tatar raids and shore up the security of the probable capital in Kiev.

What bothers me about Poland-into-Russia wanks is that the PLC elite structure and governing system were the dumbest in a Europe that also included the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation, but I digress...

That just ends up as a Lithuanian dynasty ruling over Russia.
Yeah, that was what I was suggesting. There are far too few ethnic Lithuanians for there to be any meaningful Lithuanian "conquest" of Russia, in the sense of a long-term Lithuanian ethnic supremacy or a cultural/linguistic Lithuaniazation of the Russians.

A while ago I made my own version of those "province maps" that subdivide the world into a set of fixed provinces. I made a lot of updates but forgot to post it. Anyhow, here it is, a very easy to edit map with a lot of historical and geographical borders at your disposal to create whatever nation you like.

Just tried to d/l this, to give me yet another blank map to play around with (and probably not actually complete anything :p ), only to find that my new Win 11 laptop will not d/l or open *.png files, without going through some kind of cumbersome fucking work-around.... Thanks Bill!! :-\

There was intentionality in distributing the electorates on the lay/secular dimension and, in later years, on the Protestant/Catholic dimension, as well as possibly in the north/south and east/west dimensions, but what's being referred to here is the fact that the four original secular electors happened to have distinct titles: King (Bohemia), Duke (Saxony), Count Palatine (Rhine), and Margrave (Brandenburg). There isn't really a driving reason for that, AFAIK, except respecting the last of those dimensions, which distinguished the older part of Germany (where the stem duchies were) from the newer part (where the margraviates and the Kingdom of Bohemia were).

So this is a map I found from Reddit from the user Yangtzy015. Basically it's a scenario where Pakistan and Afghanistan are united under the Afghan monarchy right after the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. In OTL, there were talks for the two countries to be united but they never went anywhere. I like this scenario since for once it doesn't involve Pakistan nor Afghanistan being partitioned. And this definitely looks like a way better scenario than OTL, though far from the most ideal.

Is there a source for those talks?

“Lithuanian Rus” believers are cooming rn.

If you don’t know, not sure how common this knowledge is so sorry if I come off as condescending, the Lithunian Rus is as its name suggests a historiographic theory that the grand duchy of Lithuania was the true successor to the Kievan Rus, it’s especially popular among Ukrainian historiographers and tends to lead to a “line of succession” going Rus -> Galicia-Volhynia -> Lithuania -> Cossacks -> Ukraine
