Germany, a liberal democratic federation founded by the Austrians divided Europe between themselves and France in the Great War. Most European nations have been forced to accept Franco-German dominance and the road towards a peaceful and united Europe is becoming a reality. The only thing standing in the way are the sore losers who have turned to fascism.

In isolationist America, socialism became much more popular and accepted, which became the majority political affiliation thanks to the economic collapse of the late '20s. The British were hit hardest and elected socialists. The conservatives, chafing under the new government attempted a plot to rig elections that devolved into a failed coup attempt. Disgraced, the aristocrats and capitalist upper classes fled to the dominions. This betrayal on the part of the monarchists resulted in the "Pink Divorce" as the monarchy re-established itself in India, Britain becoming a socialist republic which entered into union with the revolutionary United Socials that rose in America. Communism TTL is much more moderate and widespread ideology, the international is anglophone dominated.

I'm open to suggestions. This iteration is a thought exercise in a communist west and democratic east. Russian fascism will be defeated by Europe, while East Asia will mellow out once the crises of the '30s and '40s in China are over.

This map e is the approximate state of the world on the eve of the U.S. invasion of Mexico to topple the government repressing popular socialism there. They need some Freedomtm

It seems to me that Russia ought to prefer a war with the Iron Ring while Britain and France aren't fighting each other, because that leaves France freer to intervene in Germany and flank Austria and Poland.
Part of the problem is that hardly anybody expected the Iron Ring countries to actually honor their commitments. Them honoring their commitments is something that the Russians had actually never planned for because they thought it was so unlikely that countries like Persia and the Turks, or Poland, Austria, and Sweden, who had been enemies for so long, would actually cooperate.

Really interesting and unique! I quite like it, I imagine it would be a nightmare logistically, though.

Just a quick entry for the current MotF round:

"Between the Bay and the Lakes: The Rise of the Susquehannock Confederacy"
From North American Military History Gazette, vol. 32, December 2008

"The rise of the Susquehannocks as a regional power was linked to their acquisition of European firearms, first from the Swedes in their short-lived colony in present-day New Jersey, and later from the Dutch. By taking advantage of this new technology, they were able to subdue their Delaware neighbors and fend off the colonial powers—when Maryland declared war on the Susquehannocks in the 1640’s, they were defeated by the natives and their Swedish allies…

"As the century progressed, the Susquehannocks were pushed into conflict with the Five Nations Confederacy, then the preeminent native power. The Five Nations were likewise equipped with European firearms, acquired through the fur trade. These had allowed them to subdue many of the neighboring tribes and thus expand their hunting grounds—the furs from which could then be traded to fuel further conquests. But crashing beaver populations forced them to venture ever further afield, and brought the Five Nations into conflict with tribes as far away as the Ohio Valley. In 1660, they turned their attention to the Susquehannock.

"The colony of Maryland had watched the Five Nations expansion with alarm, and in 1661 they made an alliance with their former foes the Susquehannocks, hoping that they would provide a buffer against the fierce northern tribes. This policy was a success—a northern invasion was beaten off in 1663, and two of the Five Nations, the Seneca and the Cayuga, were dealt major defeats in 1666. The war dragged on for several years more, as artillery supplied by their Maryland gave the Susquehannocks and edge over the Five Nations. By 1674, the tide had turned, and the Five Nations were clearly on the defensive. Some among the Maryland government suggested negotiating a peace, but others were in favor of continuing the war and ending the Five Nations threat permanently.*

"In the end, after negotiation with the Susquehannock chiefs, the war faction won out—in exchange for exclusive trading rights, the Marylanders would continue their support. In 1680, a peace was finally signed, stripping the Five Nations of their conquests over the previous decades. Indeed, they would be five nations no more—the remnants of the Seneca, Cayuga, and many of the Onondaga would be incorporated into a new Susquehannock Confederacy. The remaining nations would become clients of the French, who called them the Iroquois…

"Many of of the Five Nations’ former tributaries transferred their loyalty to the Susquehannocks as well, and so by 1680, the Susquehannock Confederacy stretched from the shores of the Chesapeake Bay to the Great Lakes…"

*This is the POD here, by the way: in OTL, Maryland made peace, and in fact turned on their former allies, massacring their leadership…

This is my first map (and also my first post so..)

Based off a map i found on this (https://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=28160) thread. The HRE collapses terribly thanks to its electorates being divided on the Reformation. Bavaria annexes all the Catholic German states and goes off the conquer and convert the "heretic" north. After the collapse of the Habsburg Monarchy, Bavaria annexes the weak successor states and conquers more of Southeastern Europe in the process. After it grants freedom of religion. Bavaria becomes a haven for Jews all over Europe but still remains conservatively Catholic. Hitler never leaves the church, Nazism and antisemitism never rises and Bavaria became industrialized and turned into a global superpower. It had a modest colonial empire in Africa back in the day.

Can anyone already guess what this is going to be? XD Of course it's a WiP and an Inkscape map, so don't be a smartass like that. Oh and by the way: this is a complete country.

I'm guessing it's a more successful Serbian Krajina, considering majority Serbian areas are missing. If the POD is before WW2... Maybe a CP/Kaiserreich country post-Hungarian defeat in a world war?

Just a little something I whipped up for a scenario I call The Two Americas, where the United States splits into two nations prior to the adoption of the Constitution.

love that map, I wonder about New York though, that many, I don't know.
The federal government is much more powerful in the FAS than in OTL's USA, to the point where at certain times, it resembles a quasi-unitary system of government. State loyalties ITTL are much lower than IOTL, and New York and Pennsylvania, as the most populated states, were at a disadvantage in Congress when it came to representation, so both were divided.

The real reason is that, when I was coming up with a list of presidents, I noticed that all the presidents I had for a 40-year period were from new York, so to avoid it seeming like New York dominated the rest, I split it up (that didn't actually help too much, since only one of the presidents in that period actually ended up in a different post-New York state than rump-NY).

Map of the CS state of Davis. It was formed from the southeast chunk of Missouri that was held by the CSA upon its victory in the First Southron War of Independence (1861-1863), and the Battles of Fort Donelson and Sikeston. Admitted as a separate state in 1865, it was heavily militarized and was a major centre of fighting during the Second War of Independence (1874-1879). Its borders were reaffirmed following the Treaty of Richmond and the Status Quo Antebellum agreement. Industrialization, federal investment and heavy immigration followed and the state became a major industrial and commercial hub on the Mississippi. The capital, Simmons, was founded after the war and grew to become a major city in the late 19th century.
