Luzon and Borneo -Two lands forged in the green crescent

Arrival of Miguel Lopez de Legaspi
A chief of Bohol named Catunao would guide Miguel Lopez de Legazpi as a guide to Cebu and he would anchor in Cebu but he would not land due to opposition with the natives and he would be able to ally with the natives of Samar and Bohol and making blood compacts with their chieftains.

Rajah Tupas would challenge the Spanish but he would be overpowered and the Spanish would establish settlements in Cebu.

In 1568, the Portuguese would attempt a blockade of Cebu which would result in a Portuguese withdrawal.

In 1569, due to scarcity of food provisions in Cebu, the Spanish would go to Panay and founded a settlement called as Capiz and the city of Salcedo.

Salcedo would destroy the forts in the islands of Lubang and illin.

Upon the arrival of the Spanish, Lakandula and Sulayman would make peace and make friends with the Spanish but the muslim establishment in Selurong or the lands of the Tagalogs would be against him as he is from another religion and would have learned what the Portuguese had did to other Malayan lands which would have make them hostile to the Spanish as are other Malay Sultanates are.

Note

The difference from the OTL and this timeline is that the population of Luzon converts to Islam enmasse and is not only concentrated in the nobility and Islam is also organized and the Bruneian Bolkiahs of Luzon has went native already and Luzon has already accepted and recovered the loss of Majapahit and the sack of Tondo and formally accepted the local Bolkiahs as their own rulers.

Divided Luzon
On 1570 the Spanish would be opposed by the Selurong Sultanate, despite the fact that Lakandula and Sulayman are welcoming to the Spanish, the Muslims in Luzon or Selurong led by the Selurong Sultanate would oppose the Spanish forcing them to settle just in Manila and Tondo which was given by Sulayman and Lakandula, which would cause Legaspi to go further north where there were still pagans and converted the Kingdom of Caboloan which had an issue with the pirates in the North such as Limahong who the Spanish and Caboloan are fighting with and the Spanish were able to gain an ally in Caboloan and the Kingdom of Caboloan would agree to convert to Christianity in exchange of conversion and bowing down to the Spanish and the Spanish would expand on the Northwest Coast of Luzon until they were stopped by the Muslims which are ruled by the Selurong Sultanate in the coasts of Cagayan whose inhabitants are Muslims.

The Spanish would convert the Ilocanos due to their tension with the rest of the Muslim inhabitants of Luzon hating them and the fact that the Muslim elite starting to go native are starting to favor their enemy tribes who hated them who are also muslim.

The areas converted by the Spanish in Selurong or Luzon would be called as Nueva Castilla which would be ruled under the Philippines or Filipinas by the Spanish which is a part of the Spanish East Indies which would contrast with the Sultanate of Selurong, Legaspi would end up being buried in Intramuros which is a Spanish settlement in Selurong which would be destroyed when the Bruneians including the Dayaks and Tagalogs would destroy the Spanish settlements in Manila Bay and the two Nations would be seen as brothers.

The Spanish war with Brunei and Selurong in 1579 would wipe out the settlements of the Spanish in Manila Bay and the Spanish victory against Caboloan and the Sultanate of Selurong in the 1587-1588 due to the alliance of the King of Caboloan with the Selurong Sultan (via a marriage of a relative of the Sultan of Selurong) and Kasikis which would result in the death of Kasikis and the exile of his men to Mexico and the dissolution of the Kingdom of Caboloan and the incorporation of its territory to Spain and the establishment of Vigan as the Spanish Capital of Nueva Castilla.

There would have been rich relations in culture between New Spain and Nueva Castilla due to the connection of the Spanish East Indies and New Spain.

The Tagalog Muslim State would benefit the Spanish as they would help reinforce the Spanish rule in Northwestern Luzon unintentionally and the Chinese trade would also encourage the Spanish to keep their rule in Northwestern Luzon.

Signal back to Philip II
King Philip II of Spain would hear more about the colony of the Philippines in the conquest letters of Legaspi he would hear that the Spanish would secure Northwest of Luzon as part of their own territory and they would not lose the island completely from the Sultanate of Selurong and its Bruneian allies, Northwest of Luzon which the Spanish would keep and he would hear that the Sultanate of Selurong being one of the ferocious and strong Sultanates, he would also hear that the People of Nueva Castilla actually are threatened by the Sultanate of Selurong.

Philip II would hear about the ferocious and strong Muslim Sultanate in the North and the New Spanish colony in its Northwest named Nueva Castilla which is filled with riches which he would use to increase the gold traded to the Chinese and the gold that would be used to fund Spain and the Catholics in Holy Roman Empire against the Protestants and the French.

The Spanish gold from Nueva Castilla
The Spanish would exploit the gold in the Cordilleras in Nueva Castilla in Filipinas as the opposition are Moro heathens in the East and the South of Nueva Castilla who are the enemies of the people of Nueva Castilla and they would use it to compliment the American Gold that the Spanish trade with China and use in their wars and they would deplete the gold reserves of their Nueva Castilla colony in the Cordilleras, sometimes the gold from Nueva Castilla was used to create Churches and Buildings in the Spanish possessions in Europe, Nueva Castilla would fall under Spanish influence while the Sultanate of Selurong would fall under Dutch influence which would tie it to the Dutch East Indies.

The Muslims from Selurong would try and try again support rebels who would sever Nueva Castilla and annex it to the Muslim land due to the exploitation done by the Spanish and all of that would fail until in 1898 when Selurong with the support of the Dutch has annexed Nueva Castilla which is a failure in the long term as they would lose it in 1945.

Philip II’s death
Philip II would die happily on 1598, hearing that there is more gold in the Empire in the East near China and that would facilitate between Spain the two realms of the Orient, which is Japan and China and would augment the trade of Spain with these two realms, however after his death the relations of Spain with its own colonies in the East would be in jeopardy due to the Dutch, especially their alliance with the Selurong Sultanate in the North and the Sultanate of Brunei in the West although the Southern Sultanates would have more animosity with the Dutch but due to the surplus gold in the Cordilleras, Philip II of Spain would die happily.

The two Sultanates in the South would at times have a better situation and relations with the Spanish compared with the Sultanate in the North which has a stable and good relations with the Dutch, the Cordilleran gold of Nueva Castilla would be used by the Spanish to fund their wars and trade with China and the external supplies of gold in Nueva Castilla would be mostly depleted by the 19th century.

Freed Slaves settled in the East and Liberia
On 1816, the Sultanate of Selurong and Sultanate of Brunei would open their doors to the Free Blacks in United States who wanted to leave the United States aside from the people who wanted to be back in Africa, helping reduce the number of blacks in the United States, it was said that Liberia and the Two South East Asian Sultanates would help reduce the number of blacks to a miniscule population and the United States would be a predominantly white country with a tiny black minority for a time until black migration from Caribbean and African countries would happen.

The Free blacks that migrated to the Sultanates would have a trace in the DNA of the population of the Sultanates of Selurong and the Sultanate of Brunei and their descendants would be indistinguishable to the population of the two countries as the people of those countries are typically of dark complexion.

Note: I decided to put this in because I read that there was a plan to put Free Blacks in the Philippines in the history text book I had back in the day.

Independence of Portugal
On 1668, Portugal would declare its independence from the Spanish crown after the restoration war and the Spanish and Portuguese Empire in the East has been declining which was declining and the Spanish and the Portuguese had already lost Sulawesi and the Spice Islands from Dutch that rebelled from them although the Sultanate of Selurong would be a threat to the Spanish colony in North West Luzon but the Spanish would have kept the colony in the expense of the Spice Islands and Sulawesi as Koxinga would be another threat to the Spanish keeping their hold of the North West of Luzon.

The Portuguese would keep majority of their territories and colonies with the exception of Ceuta which remained under the Spanish and the Portuguese would strengthen their hold in the Lesser Sundas after their split from Spain.

New Spain Quebecois
After 1763, the Spanish territories in North of New Spain would be enticing to the Quebecois and Acadian population of the former French Canada and Western Louisiana that a majority of the population of Quebecois and Acadians would leave Canada for New Spain in the Southwest in California and the South East in New Orleans and Florida area which would make New Spain an enticing area to migrate.

The migration of the French from the lands ceded by France to England would form a backbone to the white population of New Spain which would morph into Mexico in the independence, the remaining Quebecois and other Francophone population in the later United States and Canada would linguistically assimilate to the English-speaking population of Canada and United States which would create the Catholic population which would also include the Irish immigrants.

Japanese civil war and their relationship with Borneo with Selurong
On 1909, the last Japanese Emperor would die without male issue and his earlier loss in the war against Russia would cause a start of a civil war in Japan between the communists centered in Edo and monarchists centered in Kyoto who prop a branch of the House of Yamato, which would cause a period of anarchy of Japan until 1940s when the communists won and established the Peoples Republic of Japan centered in Edo.

Peoples Republic of Japan would conquer Korea and Ryukyu and take Formosa from China which would remain to be a fact in the present, the Tagalog Republic would have disputes in the Bashi Channel and the Peoples Republic of Japan would support the independence of Nueva Castilla from Tagalog Republic with Spain.

Note

Meiji Restoration would not happen as it is butterflied and Sakoku is butterflied as well which would cause Japan to be more westernized and diverse in this timeline as the missions in Japan were weakened because of problems of Nueva Castilla in the North.

Anime and Manga are considered to be Communist Propaganda in this timeline similar to Chinese Donghua and Manhua are considered to be Communist Propaganda so Anime/Manga would be more Left aligned in this timeline

The settlement of the French-Americans in New Spain and the recovery of Native Americans from Small Pox
On the North of Mexico in California and Nova Orleans is where the majority of the Quebeckers and Acadians would settle where there is a large native population which would make the population of Nova Orleans and California mixed.

The Quebeckers and Acadians would also settle in Mexico city and a part of their population would be part of the elite of New Spain.

The recovery of the Native American population in Mexico from Small Pox from the 1521 conquests would benefit the ruling class of New Spain as they would also be parts of the efforts to mine gold in California and the gold rush would also be the reason why catholic French speakers in Canada would gradually leave Canada for New Spain as they would want to migrate to California to benefit from the gold rush in California which would make Canada more English speaking and loyalist and California having a white population loyal to the Spanish.
