Lost Vandals of Madeira

POD is very, very unlikely, but is entirely impossible? Lets say, that at the time of Vandal migration to Africa one (or more?) of their ship is lost on the sea due to unexpected storm west of Gibraltar and accidentaly lands in then uninhabitated Madeira, where survivors starts new society.

What kind of society? IMHO very primitive ( neolithic level, like Guanche). Metallurgy is lost, writting unknown. Religion is propably mixture of Christianity and Germanic paganism (while Vandals were officially Arian Christians, their conversion was still fresh, judging by example of other newly Christianised people of Medieval Europe, pagan traditions should still be strong among common folk).

And what such Island stranded people are going to impact wider world? Well, they'll not be lost forever. As 10-11th century mice bones suggest, Madeira was visited by Vikings. What if thet found their Germanic relatives living there? If Vikings conquer and asssimilate their distant kin, they'll have base for colonization/conquest of Macaronesia and for raiding Iberia and Morocco and would give Europeans foothold for further exploration of Atlantic few centuries earlier than IOTL?

Wait why would they be unable to return?

Most likely this population maintains sporadic contact with the Mediterranean, from time to time trading with the visigoths, maybe giving tribute.

Especially if we assume an Arab conquest of Spain occurs, that will decrease contacts and therefore cause the level of civilisation to decline. Maybe sections of the population convert to Islam to maintain enough trade to keep the settlement going- but I could still imagine the retention of an east Germanic language as well as folk paganism.

Probably not enough people are there to maintain a successful breeding population. If there are, then they likely have a ship or the means to build a (poor quality) ship or raft.
