Since Lyndon B. Johnson served less than 2 years of JFK's original term, in 1968 he was technically allowed to run for another term of office, and he did. He ultimately withdrew from the Democratic primary in the face of great division within the party. But what if LBJ had a united Democratic Party behind him, and he won the nomination in 1968? What would it take for him to win the General Election, and who would he likely be running against? And, if he had won the GE, how would the next four years look?

That's the thing. He wouldn't. What he would have though is the full might of the party machinery, and no qualms whatsoever about using it (a Lyndon Johnson vs Richard Nixon fight would be about the dirtiest contest imaginable).

If he somehow won 1968, it's debatable how long he lives - though if he has something to keep him going, he might not simply drink himself to death like he did in OTL.

LBJ might have found a way to expose Nixon's folk's underining the Peace talks. maybe also he would have better op research

Imagine by tricky dicky and agnew exposed a week before the election
