About a week ago I saw this article on the New York Times website. It starts out by proposing a bit of alternate history, suggesting that Newfoundland and Labrador could have become Communist had they become independent in 1949 rather than joining Canada. I'd like to know what serious AH fans think: could this have happened? If it did, how would that have affected the Cold War?
