I have been reading about the viceroyalty in Perú, and see the Jose Fernando de Abascal (http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Fernando_de_Abascal#Las_pol.C3.ADticas_contrarrevolucionarias_del_virrey_Abascal_.281810-1816.29), the 35th viceroy was able to defeat many independence movements (he recovers Chile, defeat all indepndece movements in Alto Perú), also he cares about the inhabitants of Perú , creating institutions , promoting health care, culture, etc.
He was the only viceoroy able to supress any independence movement in Latin America. which happened when Spain was taken by Napoleon; the rest of viceroy were easily overwhelmed.
So, would it be possible that he had decided to nominate himself King of Perú, and create a new royal lineage, maybe making his daugther marry to some noble in Perú (inca ascendence)?
with the big realist army of viceroyalty of perú at his comand, and all the resources, would have he been able to stop advances from San Martín in the south, and Bolivar in the North?
is there any possiblity would he be open mind to new ideas?
if not, how about other viceroy?
