OK. Can I make a nasty wish ? If you ever get to write a TL about this scenario, could I please have a scene in it, where someone among the theocratic pope scumbags, like Gregory VII, Innocence III, or Boniface VIII, is really, really, really handed his butt on a plate ? My only regret, about the otherwise truly excellent Prince of Peace by Faeelin (hey, sorry about the second "e", but I was posting by memory, and I'm supposed to be a novice
), besides stopping it on the death of Frederick II, is that we never get to read a scene where the defeat, humiliation, and shameful death of that Innocence III scumbag is depicted in glorious graphic detail, like it was to a degree for John Lackland. Really, I craved to see him on the stake or somesuch. Something that really, truly wipes out Canossa.
