But that's not gonna happen now. I am quitting this game. (not HoI2, just this round.)
This was my first game I was gonna play through. Japan, 1936 scenario, Very Easy difficulty. Just needed to get myself familiarized with the game.
I made many mistakes, and got bogged down in China quickly. (Yes I know it is sometimes bett to ignore China, but I wanted to be semi-accurate...)
This led to me naming my save game files, "Never get involved in a land war in asia"
I didn't know about multiple angles of attack and exactly HOW EFFECTIVE they were. I made the mistake of pursuing v2 rockets, and will not do so nxt time. Cool, but pointless for Japan IMO.
Most importantly when fighting China, I didn't know about encirclement. So china just kept improving and expanding their forces.
This led to 3 wars with China. 1st war: I attack Shanxi, get some territories before Nationalist China annexes them. grrrr... take down some more territory, and attempt a few amphibious invasions that all ultimately fail. (some I get a beachhead, but then cannot keep it reinforced very well due to my own stupidity, others just never made it past the beach.)
I discovered air power... and fell in love. I finally got a peace offer from China and decided that it was the best I was gonna get. (I got most if not all of Shanxi, maybe 1 territory more or less.)
I made a new puppet state, and prepared for the next war.
I get IndoChina from the stupid froggies, and continue improving relations with Siam.
War #2: Communist China offered to join my Military Alliance. (I think this was the mistake that caused me to hate this game). I am at war with Nationalist China once again. But I don't realise it for about a week, before I get a "Defeat at" message. When I checked Diplomcy I guess I somehow missed the "Communist China is at war wth Nationalist China and allies"
Eh, I think, I'll get to invade earlier than expected. OoooOOOoooh! AND my v1s just rolled off the assembly line!
...Once again, I make EXACTLY the same gains, except for no i have a new front which I have to invade from, and that ended up being a pretty nice ability since it forced Nat. China to spread their massive stacks around.
I then sucessfully under 3 massive fleets' shore bombardment fire make a beachead at Shanghi, and laucnh an offensive into Nanjing as soon as my Northern troops connect. Bam, get the Nanjing masacre event, their capitol moves to Chang-soemthing. I manage to get my troops to that province and.... the war is over. WHAT??? WTF? Apparently COMMUNIST CHINA LOST ONE PROVINCE... and they surrendered leaving me with no gains. Somehow I wasn't the leader of the alliance? After some thought I deduced that since Commi China had already been at war, they were the leaders in that war.
I began upgrading, and spent lots of IC on new infantry and the Advanced Light Tanks I researched. I then checked to make sure I was leader of Military Alliance. I was.
The 3rd war I started in September of 1943. And I finished it, using lessons I had learned in the first two wars. After capturing ALL VPs, I received the China Surrenders event. 3 options: Make Puppet State, Carve up China, and Total Occupation! Loking over options I decided I was not going to have spent a decade of fighting for nothing so I decided to totally occupy china, making me inherit all of Nat China's provinces and Xing Bei Mai.
I clicked Total Occupation. I looked at map. and that's when I decided to quit.
