I don't want to give away the future of the TL, but there is strife in the works for the U.S. Also, w/ regards to the many butterflies, this is less accidental and more intentional; it takes more than one change to make the Confederacy fold up in Virginia, which is why this is a little more complex than just McDowell winning at Bull Run.
