nor did Oprichnik's Russia renounce orthodox Christianity to become pagan.
Imperial Japan's religion was based on the ancient Japanese pagan religion, but twisted into a form of nationalism basically just an extension of government propaganda and emperor worship. So in order to remain true to the idea, now the Kingdom of the Flaming Sun uses the ancient Russian pagan religion as a state religion, nothing else.

I know this part of Japanese Shinto history. My point was only explaining the Oprichnik's Russia is still Christian instead to Pagan, on the other way than your Flaming Sun Empire.

Posted about this in the Templin thread, but the Templin Institute is currently holding a flag design contest with the chance for your design to be physically produced. And given some of the talent on this side, maybe one of our members might be among the winners.

Just submitted this to them:

A flag for my hometown, whose name literally translates to "Saint Peter by the Elm". The presence of an elm as a device is self-explanatory, the colours are taken from my hometown's IRL coat of arms (with the order changed to comply with the rules of heraldry), and the horizontal tricolour echoes that of the first Italian tricolour used by an actual state (the vertical tricolour became widespread only later on).

I like it, convey well a mediterranean/southern europe essence

I made a slightly different version of it for RPing purposes on another forum, too:

Since purple is seldom seen on national flags at all, and the purple/yellow/green combo is basically unheard of even at a provincial level, according to Wikipedia.

Neat, but what's the theme?

Neat, but what's the theme?
It seems to be 'whatever you like'. Being Templin, there's the underlying alternate worldbuilding theme and their announcement video went through the NAVA guidelines again, but beyond that I think the description in your tweet 'selling' the design is more important than the theme that inspired it.

It's tempting, but the prompt is too open. I need something like the Weekly Flag Challenge.

2022 Flag Idea - Kentucky 6.19.png

For this Kentucky redesign, the horseshoe represents the state's equine industry and the five points each on the three stars represent Kentucky being the 15th state to enter the Union.

I made flags for the kingdoms of Agnus and Keves that appear in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. The Kevesi flag is based on banners you can see in game and the uniforms of the troops. The Agnian flag is based only on the color theme of that nation's troops in game as there is no similar banner for it.

Kingdom of Agnus, The green appears on troop uniforms and weapons but otherwise the in game aesthetic color scheme is more a white with trimmings of gold or red.

Kingdom of Keves as it appears on in-game banners.

An alternate flag for Keves based on the nation's in game aesthetic color scheme, black with blue trimmings.

Flag Challenge 274: A Color Revolution

Continuing my all-consuming obsession with ideologies and color symbolism, create a flag for a revolutionary state (an existing one or an AH creation) in a world where the dominant political color and symbol of the guiding ideology is different for some reason. Your post should use an existing historical ideology (with an existing color/symbol association) and you should explain in the lore how the symbolism turned out differently.

Entry 1:

Considering the influence Russian cosmism had on proletarian culture after the October Revolution, it is not surprising that the image of our little blue planet orbiting the Sun, which is so huge that it does not even fit in the frame, became the flag of the Soviet Union.
The white six-pointed star is a symbol of the ultimate triumph of the ideas of communism on all continents of the globe. The six ends of the star symbolize the six continents of the planet, and white is the color of a classless society, since white combines all the colors of the spectrum.
The diagonally bisected black and gold flag itself became a symbol of State Socialism.

Entry 2:
The Royal Martyrs' Banner
Royal Martyrs' Banner.png' Banner.png

After the French Revolution was successfully exported to the rest of Europe, the scourge of monarchism was thought dead. The fledgling republics then found new enemies in each other. Each republic accused the others of not being republic enough, and a new cycle of wars began.

During that time whispers began, whispers that supported a more moderate system of government. One that didn't rely on the whims of the masses, monarchism. At the head of this return was France. It's monarchism movement was so bold that they would actually profess their views openly and fly monarchist banners despite the extreme danger they were in.

One of the most popular banners was the Royal Martyrs' Banner. Based of the banner for the House of Bourbon, it had three fleur-des-lys, but it was "stained" with the blood of the kings who died in the revolution. Its popularity eventually grew outside of France. So, when other monarchist movements finally designed their own flags and banners most copied this design, cementing the color red with monarchism forever.

Entry 3:
The Anarchic Sea
Although anarchism, almost by definition, does not have one overriding symbol or colour, the one which has been used the most by its adherents since the mid 19th century is the symbol of dark blue waves under a light blue sky. Its origin is disputed, with some claiming it was first designed by an early anarchist group from the west coast of France, inspired by the chaos of the Bay of Biscay, whilst others claim that it originated in either Poland or Prussia, inspired by storms on the Baltic coasts. Regardless of the exact origin, it is universally acknowledged that the chaos of the sea, which cannot be tamed by any human intervention or government dictat, is a perfect analogy for anarchism. Critics who point out that putting light blue and dark blue together violates the normal rules of flag making generally receive a response similar to "dude, that's the whole point"...

These two latest flags I made, I absolutely ADORE their simplistic and straightforward design, if I'm gonna be honest with you all. I also might be using the other flags and emblems in my hard drive for a new military/political worldbuilding side project, mainly to at lease give myself something to do in my spare time other than viewing at images online. The above flags (including several in the "flag design" folder) haven't got a coat of arms, so I'm focusing on making and assigning them to their respective flags.

I might also make a thread of my own, dedicated to this up-and-coming side project of mine.

Those are neat designs, but could you explain the symbolism of each one, so we know the significance?

For the above flag:
White: Fraternity and peace
Green: The lush plains that comprise most of the country's territory, as well as harmony between the country's main ethnic groups
Red: The blood of the people who fought for the country, as well as compassion and love.
Three yellow stars: The country's three main ethnic groups.

For the second flag:
Blue: The sky, as well as pride for the country and unity in the country
White: Peace and fraternity between the country's population.
Gold: The wealth of the country, as well as prosperity within the country's population.

Great, but what are the locations?
