I'm playing as the United States, using the Extended Timeline Mod; I've turned it into a Socialist Republic; I've vassalized Libya, Tunisia, Mexico, and ISIS; and I've invaded half the Middle East and converted them to Communism. Basically I've turned the US into how the alt-right view the Obama Presidency.

So, I'm finally tinkering around with the custom nation builder - what are the traits and benefits I should go for if agressive, blob-like expansion is my goal?

You will definitely want reduced aggressive expansion and coring cost. I would also recommend discipline and artillery combat ability to get those conquests in the first place. Diplomatic integration cost reduction would be good too if you want to annex the vassals you make.

Ugh, for whatever reason, with the Extended Timeline mod, the FPS drops to 2 one month into the game. How am I suppose to subjugate India when every day takes 5 seconds? And even while the game is practically frozen everything else that is running isn't affected at all.

Hi everyone.

Given that there is a promo on Paradox games on Steam, I'm thinking of getting EUIV and all of its DLCs now since I would basically be paying 23,24€ instead of 92,99€. The thing is that I've never played EUIV: the only Paradox games I've played from Paradox are Crusader Kings II and Stellaris. I would like to know how much different the game feels to play and how complex it would be for a newbie like me.

If you've played Crusader Kings then this will be a breeze. It's a lot more straightforward. I'd still recommend a strong/isolated state to start with though just to get the mechanics down, worst comes to worst you find it easy and can conquer half the world.

Or you find it hard and get crushed by the Ottomans by 1450.

I find that for starters you should be the Ottomans and do the crushing!
Agreed. Relatedly my current MEIOU game as the Ottomans is going fairly well, as I've conquered much of Anatolia, Bulgaria, and parts of Greece, in addition to having the strongest economy and one of the largest armies in the world. Unfortunately I have poor relations with most of my neighbours and my only ally is Genoa.

So, that's worked well - around 1560 and I've got more than 100+ provinces.

I'm at a crossroads on choosing an idea though - expansion or exploration? I've no interest in the new world, but plenty in Central Asia, India and Africa.

Expansion then. The CB, Merchant, and colonist are all good to have for a would be Asian Empire.

If it matters, I'm going for a combination of reuniting the Roman Empire, conquering all of the MidEast up to the Indus, and as much of Africa as I can.

I control nearly all of Italy, the Balkans, Anatolia, north Africa, The Middle East to the border with Persia, and East Africa to around Somalia.

What am I playing as?

I think it should be hard for once, as it seems the AI took it upon itself this game to try and subvert the way these games usually go as much as possible...

PS: England has Muscovy and Austria under it in PUs. 0.o

Does anyone as any idea of how to keep Bohemia in PU in the Veritas et Fortitudo mod? I managed to gain the Imperial Title in 1318 and the Bohemian PU but its annoying as hell that I can lose the PU to Austria every time the King of Brandenburg dies and because every time he dies I lose the PU and gain it on the same day its impossible to integrate Bohemia.

EDIT: No need already found out it appears that I had to win the PU six times and then I would annex them by event.
